Nas drops Life Is Good at 38

Jay drops Kingdom Come at 38

Nuff said.

Jay Dropped Kingdom Come when he was 36, the fuck are you talking about.

My bad, got mixed up by that "rappin at 38" line on the intro... that actually further proves my point. Jay was lookin like Larry Holmes at 36... and to put it in further perspective, Nas dropped Distant Relatives at the same age.

But Jay-Z released American Gangster at age 37.....

Which included this classic track

So yea, what are you getting at?

Dope album, but he was still lookin like Larry Holmes (I sport the fly shit, I should win an ESPYYYYYY)... and trust me, he's got more than that. Oh, and shortly thereafter he drops BP3 at 39 (Nas turns 39 this year).

What I'm getting at is, Nas ages better musically than Jay. Granted, Jay may be preoccupied with businesses or whatever, but it's still a given that Nas has a better catalogue than Jay. He's done it longer, he's matured faster even though he's younger, and to top it all off, he's still spittin an album worth of fire. You're lucky to get one good line a verse from Jay these days.

He releases a dope album, but he's still on Larry Holmes status, that shit makes no sense at all.

And LOL@ The bold.

Album was released a while ago.

His last solo album was BP3, just in case you didn't know.

The person I quoted said that Jay-Z was on Larry Holmes status on American Gangster, but also said the album was dope, to which I said made no sense at all.

I realize that BP3 is Jay's last solo effort.

Try following the argument next time.

Well he is on Larry Holmes status now, and your stupid ass can't argue with that.

Nas has been more consistent in the last 5 years.

And he was better in the 90's too.

Jay is definitely on Larry Holmes status.

Shut the fuck up you fucking idiot.

With 10 albums in and a combined 38 years in the game it's disrespectful to Nas and Jay to compare them to two rappers that died over a decade ago. Biggie and Pac shouldnt be in GOAT debates anymore in Awe of these two. Its been between Nas and Jay since 2001. Nas however is simply a better MC than Jay. LIG confirms that no other rapper this deep in their career raps on this level. Stories, flows, concepts....he ethered his only rival. NAs won

Time in the game isn't the only factor to what makes someone great, it's their impact, influence and the material they left behind. Jimi Hendrix only dropped 3 LP's 40 years ago and he's still considered the greatest gutair player of all time. Santana and Eric Clapton dropped more LP's and been in the game longer and yet they aren't considered better than Jimi. Also Jay and NaS themseleves would disagree with your statement as Both mentioned Pac and Biggie mutiple times of their last LP's and many previous LP's before that. Pac and Big's impact in Hip Hop can not be overstated, they both changed the genre.

Again, not tryna diss Jay... my thing is, Nas raised the bar when he dropped this album. Your original point is Nas wasn't the GOAT. Who then, has been relevant for 20+ years, dropped consistent work and remained in the public eye as long as Nas? No one. Not LL, not Rakim, not Big or Pac (unfortunately), not Em, not even Jay. Jay the closest, but he isn't consistent enough. Jay is great at a lot of things, but this rap shit, Nas got this.

Nas is definitely one of the greatest...top 2 to me...Hov would be number 1 for me most days, but I put Nas at 1 on certain days. It's definitely not because of his last 3 or 4 albums though. I just haven't been interested in much of his material since Stillmatic. I still buy his shit, but I don't listen to it more than twice.

Jay has stepped it back up quite a bit since Kingdom Come (which I didn't think was that bad).

American Gangster is top notch and proved he still had it. BP 3 proved he still had it to make commercial hits.

I liked BP3 too by the way even though there were too many features. He's not as sharp but he's just as witty as always and that's Jay's strong suit anyway.

Nope not even on PAC level as GOAT, Pac was a movement and a force that even had the FBI and the Goverment watching his every move for they fear he was the Black Messiah, Pac made music that move the soul.

But Nas is making a move to replace Rakim as Number 2 of the all time greatest list and Nas can deliver one more classic he will replace Rakim for number 2

We are usually on the same page. But not on this one. Pac had Music full of substance and emotion. But he can't see Nas . Nas is light years ahead of Pac as an MC.

As technically emcee i agree with you on the lyrical technician aspect, Pac was a Poet emcee and really wrote the majority of his rhymes in a poetic form (the ones when Pac was more in a calm state) but i can honestly say that Pac was on his way to become more lyrical emcee at the time of his death, he was going to take another step when he dropped 7 Day theory to become a COMPLETE MC that covered all the skills to become a complete emcee. Because Pac had all the other skills locked Crowd Control, Delivery, Voice, Mic Control, breathing technique, flow, voice, writer, can freestyle off the top, using his voice as an instrument, a poet, touching the crowd live or on tape, substance and emotion,Star Power And he know to be THE COMPLETE emcee he needs to master the lyrical aspect of the form and that's what he was doing.

That's why i rank him as GOAT because he had all the others on lock with classic albums and needed to master one more aspect of emceeing to be the complete emcee.

But im not taking nothing from NAS, Nas is one of my personal favorite artist and i own all his LP's and rank him 3rd on the GOAT LIST, behind Pac and Rakim.

Plus Pac didn't peak yet or reach his full potential as an artist, producer, writer, poet, director, actor, emcee and activist. And looked how far he was at 25, Pac was getting better on every album.

The same thing goes for Biggie Smalls he haven't reached his full potential as an emcee, the best thing for him was to get in that accident because you know he was reading books, his vocabulary on words was expanding and it showed in his flows

2pac is the GOAT^^^^
