I was living in the Tri-state when this dropped and I was listening to Hot 97 every day. It was right after Get Rich Or Die Trying had died down.

They used to play Pump It Up every half hour and play these promotional commercials before and after the song that said, "Joe Budden is the streets #1 draft pick". That was the slogan,"Joe Budden is the streets #1 draft pick".

So they hyped him up to the point that I thought he was the next 50 Cent. But alas, his second single didn't blow up and he kinda fell by the wayside.

I remember cats on the sohh.com message board said Mood Musik 2 was a GOAT mixtape. I downloaded it and still have it on a CD-R somewhere but I haven't listened to it in years.

But yeah, the song Pump It Up was hot at the time.

I remember the ic having a huge Budden fan base I just ignored them till a friend of mine who is one of the few I respect when it comes to music told me how nice he was, all I really knew was pump it up which was trash to me and a few verses from his A team stuff but nothing memorable, but his fan base used to make a thread for every song that leaked that was supposed to be on the growth and other mixtapes so it wasn't hard to find his shit, I downloaded 4 songs when I decided to give him a shot
