If I wash my hair and leave it alone, its to my shoulders. If I stretch it by pulling on it its down my back. These pics arent me but example:

Why this happens is due to the way our hair is structured. The amount of shrinkage varies from person to person, so yes it is possible for you to have 3 inches of hair and have it shrink 2 inches down to a tiny afro.

i think i see what you're saying ... but your terminology is off and therefore your logic is flawed

your hair does not "shrink" it always the same length unless you cut it or it grows
nor does your hair stretch ... its always the same length unless you cut it or it grows

listen luv .... what youre missing is the most crucial part of this discussion .... moisturization

no matter what race your are, the more dry your hair or any part of your body is, the more coarse it becomes. when you moisturize your hair, the more versatile it is ... meaning it can be styled in more ways. just because you allow your hair to become more dry than the next person does not make you more black. just because you moisturize your hair doesnt mean you want to be white. the biggest part that you leave out is the fact that blackness is a mentality, its not physical at all. the way you look is the last thing that makes you black. its simple common sense to see that to achieve a certain hair style you must moisturize your hair accordingly. black hairstyles are styles that were created by black people .. that is it. afros, dreads, low cuts, and braids are all black hair styles. you cant not braid your hair without moisturizing it... you dont have to use chemical to straighten it. but you have to comb it so that each braid is consistant and contains as much hair as the others. if you dont comb your afro ... certain parts will be matted down etc. if you have a low cut, your scalp is more exposed to the sun, air, and weather conditions ... so you use grease to lock in your hair and scalps natural moisture

that has nothing to do with being black. thats called hygiene and it applies to all humans. and to top it all off. if you're so pro black you would know that black people created civilization. nearly everything the europeans have has been borrowed from black people. alot of the things you think are "white" are actually black and was stolen from us
