Im not talking about chemically/permanently altered. In that pic, the mans hair clearly did not grow like that. It is trained to get that appearance.

"trained" means its natura.l theres nothing added or taken away. I get waves if I get out the shower and brush my hair when I have somewhere to go. not half as much as dude in the pic...but a few waves on top and sides.....Im I a coon??

Its different for them  I agree, though. They are just like the black women who relax their hair cause they dont like their natural hair.

*yes, I know not all black women who relax their hair, and men who sport waves have self-hate issues, so dont go there.

oh is that so? this is interesting.. lemme hear you plead your case

how is it that men who want waves have self hate issues?
maybe they just want to achieve a certain look? maybe they enjoy regular grooming?
why does it always have to lead back to self hate?

keeping ur hair "cut-low" is self-hate now in black men?? really??

wow...it used to be among black women that we'd have to date a white girl to be self-haters. now all we have to do is get a haricut??

When I hear guys say they cant stand their hair when its not in waves (their natural texture), I think it is. Just like when I hear some black women say they cant wait to perm/relax their newgrowth cause its too nappy. Its the same thing to me. Chemically altered or not. Like I said, I know its not the case for all people who wear waves, or relax but when they make comments like that it says something.

The kits are the same as relaxing to me too.

LIE LIE LIE. I see you guys aways with a brush in your hand brushing your hair so the waves could stay LIE LIE. I am dying right now and black men say black women hate ourselves.

same for me ... if i cut my hair, wash it, put hair grease in it, the waves come natural. that pic in the OP is not natural or what my hair would look like. but i dont brush my hair for more than 2 mins and my waves will show. waves are naturally occuring but some cats treat it etc to "exploit" it ... like that pic in the OP

who really walks around with a brush in their hand all day?? chicago from poetic justice??

u basing the entire wave-community off of what u have heard a few men say. Anything that happens naturally to ur hair through a certain action cannot be considred self-hate. sometimes let my hair grow out, sometimes I cut it real low, sometimes I brush waves into it. depends on how i feel. just like facial hair, if i shave it all off today does not suggest that I hate my facial hair.

I dont understand How is that NOT self hate. getting your hair cut every 2 weeks so your naps wont grow in, is like black women perming every month so there naps wont show, both SELF HATE. like I said I know black men who perm their hair and beard, self hate at its finest.

she is kinda right. when you be honest with yourself we do this shit to fit in. there is nothing natural about tampering with yourself

you're going way too far out of context. you're basically saying that if you groom your hair in any way its altered LOL

even afros have to be combed and shaped up, dreadlocks have to be maintained with beeswax etc

so ppl are supossed to just wake up, shampoo their hair while in the shower, dry off and leave just like that?? LOL

if you perm your hair so you can style it like some white girl or guy then you have a case. waves are naturally occurring. all you have to do is brush your hair

whats next?? teeth arent really white and its self hate if you brush them?? just leave the tarter and plaque on them to be natural??

wheres the foundation of thinking?? where do you draw the line between natural and unnatural??

well that will cause dry scalp and hair loss eventually ... and plus those are teenage kids .... basing your overall perspective off of kids who are still learning isnt wise
