So this Lauryn Hill vs. Jean Grae debate is STILL an interesting one...

From what I see, L Boogie is more marketable, but Jean is just as much of a monster on the mic and each in different songs get it better then the other

basically...

the same with Buddens and Nas IMO

Buddens can make songs just as well as Nas but people love Nas more

There's really no contest to be had. Jean wins based on her body of work alone. She has skills lyrically and she has relatable content.

Lauryn is nice but she's not seeing Jean. Queen Latifah >>>>>>>>>>> Lauryn Hill.

this is a real dope drop

But props soul_rattler, you got me posting like my normal self again. I came back with the intent to be more mature...but it didn't work. Now, I gotta defecate on you and your faves, like I used to do, fag.

and was her verse wack?

I’m a, rebel rouser, the other rebels that crowd around them
(C’mon) To rebel levels that leveled up into several thousands
Records (Houser) like Afrika, we the (Jungle Brothers)
This is for townships, backpackers and seasoned lovers of music
Lil B’s in love with the music
So leave the brother to use it, lead the public to new shit
See the, puppets ain’t do it, you keepin up what they viewin
You see the numbers they doin, refeedin us, the three of us
Plus 9th, more than Kanye cuff dykes or cuff mics
It’s my nigga Phonte, Based God, dig-above type
(C’mon) Above the boundaries of music, the counter-culture groove it’s
(Uh) the kind of combination got you puzzled, called cocooners
We do what we like so hit the common section
Do this for life, so what we got in (Common)? (Resurrection)
I’ma tryna bring everything back
…Everything
And that includes…

Jean> Ms. Hill
Flow was mediocre.

lol @ Jean Grae having "greatness" when she only has one fan on the entire IC. Punisher, you're all alone dawg. Give it up. Everyone wants L-Boogie, no one wants the nobody.

Lauryn Hill on the Score WAS better than Jean. Then she dropped an album full of R&B and Soul music with no raps. Then she followed it up with that Unplugged joint.

Hip Hop in the 90's was so desperate for credibility and mainstream respect that we called it a Hip Hop album for some reason.

In reality

Jean > L. Hill based on albums and solo rap songs

The fact that you had the nerve to compare hardcore to Lauren's first album says alot

You seem to only like rappers because they're popular...

Please. Lauryn Hill and Outkast were popular when i was just a little kid. I like good artists. I take everything into account. Lyrically, I give Jean Grae the edge. As a complete artist, Jean Grae is not touching Lauryn

ROFL @ you purposely omitting the part in that 2nd quote where dude gives Jean props for being a "monster" on the mic.

Fag, quit it.

Do you deny Budden and Grae have incredible ability on the mic with presense and technical skills? What sets L Boog apart by the way is her ability to sing and play an instrument, it makes her more versatile

I'm denying that Joe Budden is in mostly everybody's top 10 dead or alive lists. Nas is. You just compared Lauryn Hill to Nas and Eugene Grey to Josephus Buttondown.

Thanks for agreeing with me tho.

LMAO... but its a good song tho....

what seperates people like Jay, Phonte, and Jean to people like Ye, Andre, and L Boogie is that Jay and them are can rap better than Ye and them....

but Ye and them can make better songs and can think outside the box more... but thinking outside the box has its gifts and curse... see 808s, Love Below, and Unplugged...
