So J.Kidd gets a head coaching run but Brian Shaw, Chuck Person, and Patrick Ewing can't???

The crazy thing for me is that I never heard anything or saw anything about Kidd that made me think he even wanted to coach.

I swear it seems like he announced his retirement, tallied up his bills, his legal fees, and compared it to his bank account and said...

"Shit, I need a job."

Either that or he spent a full day with his dumb ass trophy-wife woman and his swole-head ass son and realized he couldn't handle being around them all day.

Shit just seems strange and sudden.

He left 6 million dollars on the table with the Knicks and didnt negotiate a buyout. He didn't want to be sitting around on their bench next year or worse...becoming the next Mike Bibby.

What a lot of people don't know is Brian Shaw's name only became hot when Phil Jackson gave him an endorsement on his way out.

Now...take it for what you will, but imo that 'endorsement' was no more than Phil tryin to put on a player he coached and had as an asst coach for almost a decade.

Thats the only reason his name started ringin out...and the only reason these bumbling ass nggas on this site keep throwin his name out lol smh

I'll take an endorsement from Phil and knowing that a dude has absorbed knowledge from Phil any day than to hire anyone who has never had coaching experience.

Niggas talkin bout it's a win win. Brooklyn just made the playoffs, do you think the fans want to see them lose? Fuck outta here. Deron Williams a bitch nigga who gets good coaches fired cuz he dont wanna listen.

How the fuck you know Shaw wouldn't be a good coach if he hasn't had the chance?

@ first bolded, have you ever seen Phil Jackson's coaching tree? Here it is:

Kurt Rambis...The end. edit: +Jim Cleamons for 1 yr & Bill Cartwright for 2!

...

...

@ 2nd bolded, I dont. But how do YOU and everybody else know he WILL be successful, enough to campaign like you have any idea what ur talkin about. Who was the last asst coach you campagined for?!? It does not happen. As fans, 90% of the time we are not in a position to talk intelligently on an asst coach's ability to be a head coach, unless they coached before. Period.

I think Shaw should be given a look because

1.) He was a former point guard ( I know he wasn't a great player but still....) which is pretty much like the extension of the coach on the court

2.)He was the lead assistant under Phil Jackson when they won a few titles

3.) A lot of the players respect him from his assistant coach tenders. He even got cosigned by Kobe

4.) He is young and will not cost a lot of money

5.) He is still young enough where he can relate to a lot of the players better than these Vet coaches.

6.) He actually has a viable system he wants to run on offense and defense that has proven to help teams win championships (even though both teams were stacked with talent)

Those are all great points, except #2 and #6. I'll get to that...

I did a lil diggin, and here's a quick list of former players currently serving as asst coaches:

Tyron Lue

Mario Elie

Doug Overton

Darrell Walker

Aaron Mckie

Dee Brown

Nick Van Exel

^^^Thats just lookin at 10 teams. Imagine if i looked at all of em.

Now, to my point, why has no one here campaigned for any of these dudes? I'll answer for you: Because ESPN aint told us to. Plus, we are NOT IN A POSITION to know who takes to coaching and who doesnt. Some asst coaches are clipboard holders. How would we know the good from bad?? But i bet the people interviewing know.

And #2 and #6 is most impt. He's bringin an offnse. You mean the triangle? Like Rambis tried in Minny? Maybe...just maybe, Phil Jackson hasnt produced asst coaches (and why B Shaw aint been hired yet) b/c they are specialists in an offense no one can run??

Tom Thibeadaeux nigga!!!!

Now what fake smart nigga.

@s2jepeka

I'm a Spur fan so i knew of coach Budenholzer who got the job at Atlanta because every time Pop got ejected or was sick he coached the Spurs. I knew of him and his X&O knowledge by watching what he could do, not because of ESPN or any other sports network. Coach Bud ran lots of nice set plays when he had the young guys out there playing without Tim, Tony and Manu. Not everybody follows or believes what the networks tell us, some people actually know there teams and see what each coach did to help players or systems run smoothly.

Now I never said I knew what Shaw could do because I don't truly follow the Lakers like that but all the points I stated are true and not based off of speculation. Shaw has been cosigned by actual players whose skills and game they attribute to getting better due to him. Lance Stephenson came right out and said that Shaw helped him a lot with understanding the game better this year. Not every assistant can actually help players get better, make them work on pertinent things or even relate to them. But he has been cosigned by a few guys.

Will he be good, I don't know? LOL. But should he maybe get a chance? Why not? I mean the league keeps rehashing the same coaches and some have proven to be just okay at best with what they do. Why not give a new guy a chance?

Fuck them co-signs from Phil. That dude ain't Jay. Like dudes out here think all it takes it is a co-sign and all of a sudden you on in your community. That shit didn't work for Bleek, or Sauce Money, or Free....it only worked for him. And this shit ain't goin work for Shaw, either.

...come to think of it, Phil is EXACTLY like Jay. Never mind.

That being said, I'd take Shaw in Philly. Shit, we need SOMEBODY.
