Get gas asap.

Prices are rising and some stations are running out.

Went to 3 gas stations this morning before I could find some.

My daddy told me to fill up when it gets half gone to avoid being stranded.

So far we have gas but that could easily change

@damnkp, you might end up having to cut that drywall higher than that fam

my parents had about the same amount of flooding your place appears to have had and at first, thats where we cut the drywall b/c it was just above/below (i cant remember) the outlets, but when they started getting bids on repair work, everybody said that they needed to cut it to the length of a full sheet b/c they werent gonna be cutting strips to just repair those parts

If ya'll still got the people that cut that drywall out, keep em on standby just in case ya'll have to do the same thing b/c the contractors WILL charge for that. Any demo you can do on your own is gon pay huge dividends when the money to fix your home start coming in

also, if any of ya'll know anybody personally that will need to get their house fixed, i cant stress enough...ya'll see all these acts of kindness going on now, but when all them out of town contractors come into town, they will literally be sharks out for blood.

They arrested some cac here who was going from parish to parish getting huge sums of money from folks upfront and he never did any work. They finally caught up to him and arrested him, but i dont think they were able to recover that money. It seems like every other week, they showing his face on the news b/c somebody else claiming they were scammed by him.

They are going to prey on their desperation and demand that they pay upfront to reserve a place on their schedule. Tell them to ask a ton of questions and do their googles. Dont just give people money. SOOOO many people got ripped off last year.

My parents almost got ripped off, but my pops caught up with the dude, and fortunately for them, he hadnt skipped town, and he gave them back their money.

thats just contractors being picky and "saving money".....im sure they could do it themselves

I mean yea its a headache to measure and cut that shit but I'd rather do that then knock out whole sheets

need a full crew to get something like that done in a timely manner

oh i know why they said it, but some of these people will be in lines for weeks for contractors. They will have time to cut out whole sheets if need be

but they may not...but thats how they were doing folks here last year, unless you are a contractor and was rebuilding your own home, then you might've cut some corners

@damnkp

Check with the Texas state regulatory agency before hiring anyone

A lot of folks scamming but you can see active license online

Be careful about putting money up front too.

For electrical work and A/C work and plumbing work.... they are required to have a Texas license

It is illegal to even give a bid for that type of work ...offer to preform... without a license. Even if they have someone else do the work.

Watch for Craigslist ads etc

No license is required for general contracting but the work for sure

If they are from out of state they still have to have a TX license

Pm me if you or anyone has any questions you don't want to ask in this thread

While it is fucked up dude just sent out a tweet instead of an actual statement a friend of mine who is a pastor at a church in Baltimore just posted this and it is something to consider as to why some didn't open their doors sooner

Post hurricane Katrina, churches and other organizations learned to not just open their doors until they are designated as shelters. Once designated, they get resources to SUCCESSFULLY HELP PEOPLE. Resources like food, water, and security are vital for basic operations, but volunteers are needed to work the kitchens, bathrooms, and infirmiries. These elements are vital to ensure that the shelter does not become a dangerous place. When it opens before those arrive, it can do more harm than good. Just read up on what happened 2 days after hurricane Katrina when they opened up the Superdome before they had State and Federal resources. There were cases of rape, murder, suicide, theft, robbery, and destruction of property to name a few. Even though Katrina left New Orleans with no options, valuable lessons in disaster relief were learned.

While I do not speak for the church leaders in question, I do feel the need to put another side of the picture out there, because the Internet, Misinformation, and the Mob Mentality are too dangerous to go unchecked right now.

The media did a lot of lying about what happened in the superdome. There was no rape and the deaths were not crimes. Theres a documentary on youtube that goes in on it. The two confirmed deaths was a suicide and another from health problems, im thinking

But its really just an excuse they are using to not let niggas in there buldings.

Price gouging in Dallas ....sent to me by my friend who lives up there

@Kat I wonder if they will make the kids make up days ? Since the school won't receive funding if they aren't in attendance. And I don't see stupid ass Trump waiving that cause that would be doing the right thing

I did see all HISD students get 3 free meals a day for the school year

Yeah she got free lunch last year since I was unemployed and not married to moneybags at the time.

They're also relaxing the uniform requirement until January. I thought that was thoughtful.

Luckily my mom is able to watch her cause I had not planned on two extra weeks of child care.
