There's no way you can classiy this as not being Hip Hop. Just because you don't here no rapid 808s or a beat from the Runners, doesn't mean that that ain't Hip Hop production. There's no such thing as "hip hop sound". Hip Hop production began from samples instrumentals from every genre of music. P Funk, Soul, Disco, 80s R&B. I guess you youngins don't remember 92/93 when Reggae was starting to break into the mainstream (Shabba Ranx, the "flex it's time to have sex" dude, "murder she wrote") and a lot rappers KRS-one, Ice Cube, NWA all had either used the reaggea flow, or had a reggae nigga on the hook.

With thaat said, I have only heard a couple songs, and just a couple times, but everything sounds like pure fire, too me. Like some people said, to call sometihng a classic takes time, but I can defintiely say this is a great fuckin album so far

Yes I think so. Like I said in the other thread I havnt felt this way about an album after a first few listens since The Fix, Which was the last true classic in my book. No weak songs, maybe a song or 2 is kinda boring due to the message its trying to send it in but thats what makes it not weak. Dope beats, dope rhymes, what more do yall want?

Hilarity. That zack morris swaggot typed an essay and the last paragraph he says he only heard a couple songs. ROFL.

I gotta start making threads. Changes need to be made around here

lol no... I'll take Jay's American Gangster over this

American Gangster put me to sleep in the first 3 songs. Distant Relatives is fire tracks 1-13. Just hit play, no need to skip anything..

if they don't call it classic now, they will in the near future

How can it already be a classic
Didn't it come out only 2 weeks ago

If it sounds that good when you first hear it and it sounds just the same the next 3 or 4 times you hear why cant it be? When I first heard Illmatic(6 years after its release date) I thought it was classic. When I first heard 2001 I was blown away just like I am every time I put that shit in the deck. Just sayin....

Before you put me in that category with one those that think everything that sounds hot at the moment is classic, the last classic cd IMO is Scarface's The Fix in '02
