It's always debatable with fans....but ask the artist if UGK are legends...never heard anyone speak negatively about UGK....there's a reason for that...respected on all coast...whether your a fan of their music or not...I'm from Texas so I guess I'm a little biased....overrated? By who? They never were forced fed on radio stations or video shows....I compare them to three six....the most known unknowns.....jay knew exactly who to fuck with from the south to get southern fans listening to his music......juvenile and UGK....

Fuck that nore was a lyrical monster at one point that war report. Wow...the story telling the calm grown gangsta shit yall musta forgot his first solo mind blowing the sheer word play

I don't measure good hip hop based off of the south.

We all know the south don't know shit about hip hop.

CNN & Mobb Deep>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

we dont claim making none of that music either

you think groups like Kast, Ball n G, UGK, Goodie Mob went to the studio & was like "This album is going to be the most elite hip hop album"? no, them niggas just went in there & made music their fanbase can relate to

I'm from the south.

But using the "I want to listen to music because I want to relate to it" is a crutch to listen to whoever

Elites>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>casuals and people want to listen to rapper because he's in his local town.

UGK, Kast and them niggas are nice, but not fucking with "The War Report" or "The Infamous".

I know its all opinions but you cant be serious if you think Kast catalog aint f*cking with War Report & The Infamous.

Ridin Dirty>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>both them albums

NY rappers (some of them) are the only niggas that try to keep tabs on whats hip hop & whats not

I don't see how UGK are local when just about the entire south respects them. A local rapper is a rapper that didn't make it out of his city or even state.

UGK is big from the south all the way up to the DC area and parts of the midwest.

Lol, UGK went Gold without a single music video off Ridin' Dirty at a time when BET/MTV was the main source of promotion. And that's the album Jay-Z loved so much that he had to get a feature from them. They couldn't have been too local

I acknowledge they existence before Big Pimping. But Big Pimpin made em as big as they are. I couldn't tell u 1 song from them b4 that song. But they CDs used to get advertised in E-40 albums.

I know ya'll seen Don't Be A Menace and Menace II Society both of which play UGK in the movie. Hell, the opening song for Don't Be A Menace is a UGK song.

Pocket Full of Stones was on the Menace II Society soundtrack

naw bruh you trolling. UGK are local legends, they sold 500,000 in small Port Authur Texas. Bun B freestyled to Jay at a flea market booth in PA & Jay liked it, so he gave them a feature on Big Pimpin. Nobody outside of PA havent heard of UGK before Big Pimpin. No where in the south they didnt get play, thank the omega Jay-Z

Bun B freestyled to Jay??? U must never heard the story from Bun's first solo cd or what Jay said on making the video for big pimping
