I think people were just riding the wave from the Boondocks and feminists who were dissing the videos for their alleged misogyny. The Channel itself doesn't produce the videos, the labels did, so to be mad at them was kind of foolish.

I think BET could have been more informative, but admittedly I enjoy that kind of programming whereas most people don't like it.

Come to think about it the only show I can think of was Keyshia Cole's reality show and its spinoff.

You had shows like 106 n Park wanting to be MTVs Total Request live, the cancelation of classic shows like Rap City, no Video Soul, no jazz, no carribbean rhythms, no more uncut, no more black sitcoms, no Teen Summit, the alleged black balling of black artist, Justin Bieber winning awards, horribly censored movies, the reality tv craze, no music videos, and a channel that makes a commercial telling kids to do right but airs a crime series acting like all black people should know every major drug dealer.

The BET I last saw wouldn't show no shit like Hidden Colors. Too busy trying to keep up with the main stream and stay within the status quo. Be more like MTV. Then there was the allegation that they told some rapper their music was too smart for black people. Taking that into account of what and who I didn't see on the channel, the shit wasn't far fetched. Then I heard a white boy owned the channel as all this declining was going on.

Be honest, how well do you think that would do on tv? Not just BET, any tv station? There's a reason that BET or any other station would produce "ratchet" programming. If 4 million people watch some bullshit reality show on BET and less than a million watched a BET News show or special report, which show do you think will be retained? I barely watch BET but I do know that they at least try. And fuck Stacey Dash! BET done kept her relevant by playing her movies in marathons and shit. If they got rid of BET and Fox News fired her ass she would be so done.

I got cable and I really don't give a shit about any of the shows on cable tv. BET included. I wish they would either take the shit off the air or re-brand it as another channel. When they got rid of the quality shows that help them rise in popularity and Viacom took over the network it wasn't worth watching and hasn't been in over 10+ years.
