i never got the 'slave movies are overplayed' argument, never will. How the fuck is TWO MOVIES "overplayed". Hollywood refused to do them for the longest, to the point where only foreign filmmakers would touch shit like Goodbye Uncle Tom, then Django and 12 years drop and suddenly niggas complain as if Hollywood is pumping out slave flicks every week like they romantic comedies. Then ya'll keep crying about wanting a Nat Turner film but when a young black gifted filmmaker does one ya'll start the same hatin shit like oh why they forcing slave films on us. Ya'll keep wanting a Haitian Revolution film but when Danny Glover finally gets that off the ground, you niggas gonna complain ohhhh boo hoo slave films. Meanwhile I never seen a Jew or Zionist complain about the two dozen holocaust films & documentaries that drop every year.
See, I'm a history buff that enjoys reading history and watching historical films. If that ain't your lane to each his own, but stop acting like we're better off as a people if everybody gets to explore their genocides in art but we don't.
Why can't we have a film about black people doing good? Because films need fucking conflict and drama, does Snoop really wanna watch "I graduated college and have a promising career and volunteet in my community: THE MOVIE"?
