Niggas, if multi BILLION dollar samsung wants to purchase something, you better trust that they see the vast potential it has. If they buy it at 500 mil you better believe that they see the potential to reach 1.5 billion plus. That means that Jay-z has the potential to have the controlling stake in a 1.5 billion dollar company. This is the future. He should absolutely not sell.

Only problem is......he doesn't have the infrastructure in place on his own to make that happen.

Basically, in Samsung's hands it could be a billion dollar company......but not in Jay-Z's hands.

If he can get anywhere between $500-$800 million, he should sell.

In as much as I enjoy Spotify because of the ease of discovering new music (Top Music charts by country is GOAT when trying to find new songs), I can foresee very soon that a lot of music will only be available through streaming, and the factions (Appl Music, Spotify, TIDAL etc) will get very possessive about their content (as they should in all honesty). Gonna get hard to grab the latest music.

If he partnered with Samsung or Google he could have access to that infrastructure.

True, but they're not gonna partner with him without having a substantial (probably majority) ownership interest in the company.

Otherwise, it wouldn't make sense because it would benefit Jay more than it would them.

On the business end I get why it would be beneficial to sell, but at some point we as African-Americans need to understand to the pride of ownership and having something tangible that has potential to grow.

If a large market cap company is offering to by me or, I already know that it's worth more than what they're offering and as a business man u should do my due diligence to find out why.

In this case it was not selling out. Alot of artists were torn between going with spotify and in other cases the day in age hasn't caught up to completely having all of your music only available through streaming and having to pay a fee for it. Some people still like being able to put mp3's on flash drives or make their own playlists.

I know tidal later started trying to offer cd's to some, but it seems Whites artists and quite a few black were not willing to invest their careers in having their music available to TIDAL and I can guess all the legal problems Jay-Z and the others were probably having to deal with.

In the end it didn't look worth keeping, so in that case/under those circumstances YES sell it.

As for BET, that's a different story.

I've never understood that logic. "You're a sellout if you sell your business."

If you're in the business to make money....how are you a sellout, selling your business to make money?

If u dont have total control u are not the boss...

And yes black is a brand

From social media to street clothing to TV shows, Sports to Hairstyles

Selling out is selling out

Even if its part of a business model
