You should check out the original Land of the Dead where they on the military base, seen it when I was about 6 years old. Good God fam shit scared the living shit outta me LOLOLOLOLOL. There's one part where dude gets his tongue ripped out, the way they did it tho, it looked so real you couldn't tell me shit as a kid LOLOL. Like that was one of the most simple yet creative kills I've seen in a movie. It was effective to the viewer too. Told that nigga to go up the elevator with his niggas SMMFH.

The remake fucked it up man but the original movie is a classic :+1:

Are you talking about Day of the Dead??? I don't think there was a original of Land of the Dead???

But Day of the Dead is a George A. Romero classic as well. Very gory.

To the fans of Pet Sematary 2, I recommend checking out this article. Gonna make me watch it in a different light now.

Good review, I read the "each buries his own" part in Gus' voice LOLOLOLOLOLOL. I saw this waaaayy back in the late 90s and I genuinely loved it. I thought it was a good movie, just some parts were a bit "Hollywood". The soundtrack or music used in it was also dope. People were hating on this for no reason, it's a sequel that really branched out and I agree didn't hide behind the first or try to copy and reformulate it either (kinda like how The Thing remake made the EXACT same movie LOLOL SMMFH but I still liked it too). My favourite part of Pet Sematary 2 was prolly the part where Gus is like "I'm just fuckin with ya !!!" before the bully's scarf gets caught in the motorcycle spokes LOLOL. I thought it was a fair movie and shout outs to Goose !!!! I still get vexed whenever he gets got in Top Gun !!

A lot of people forget btw that Edward Furlong was a good actor. He was a good looking kid too n/h and could have been where Leonardo DiCaprio is today if he didn't get caught up with drugs and the Hollywood life. He used to pull bad bitches left and right, guess the fame, the money, the fake friends, scavengers and assholes spun his focus out of control SMMFH. Guess some aint built for the game like that tho man :+1: .

Good drop :+1:

Man I still love this movie. Yooo when he killed ol boy with motor bike I was damn. What a terrible way to go.

Funny part was when they were eating dinner after Gus got buried and he said table manners. lol. man.

I agree about Furlong though. Dude could have had a nice career. Now he's stuck doing straight to DVD and Syfy movies.

Aye bruh don't even mention The Thing remake. I was so pissed seeing that movie. The CGI effects ruined that movie for me. The original has some of the best make up and effects I've ever seen.

It's sooo crazy you bring that up fam, yesterday I was watching old scary movies in particular Creepshow 2 and Bram Stoker's Dracula and if you look closely for a lot of scenes they either use cartoons, toy props, clay, dope costumes etc but it looks so much more real and authentic than the CGI shit they're doing now and it didn't cost no $50 million budget either. Independent directors could easily use those old techniques and make better movies, they just have to stop trying to over-scare people and just make a good movie from start to finish cuz we've seen it all. It's funny how all these remakes are trying to best the original movies that operated on far smaller budgets, a limited cast and STILL with all the money, top names in the biz and production teams they still can't match them LOOLOLOLOLOL.

The CGI in thing ruined it, that and them making the SAME movie as the first but with different names/characters SMMFH. I think the prequel idea was cool but they should have deviated from it entirely I think.

It's really amazing the way they used their imagination for effects back then. Shit is really a lost art nowadays.

One show I watch that competitors have to build from the bottom is this show on Syfy called Face Off. Man the detail, molds, colors and costumes they use are really good. They rival if not better than a lot of stuff that's in movies today.

You mentioned Creepshow 2. Dude The Raft story and The Hitchhiker story is some creepy ass shit man. Imagine if that was CGI, it would look corny. A lot of corny and cheesy stuff normally comes from the bad acting, people falling while getting chased, etc. Effects were always there. Look at that first Hellraiser movie and the transformation of the main dude who was feeding off of people.

Another few great ones comes to mind is for effects is The Blob (1988), American Werewolf in London, Slither, Candyman and mofo'n NightBreed.

My Nola brother. I agree with everything you say and been telling niggas this for ages. BRING BACK THE CHEESY EFFECTS! Lowkey CGI effects feel fake and not intimidating. Smh at new age horrors. The only one that did CGI right was The Grudge.

*DAPS*

I swear to God maaaann me and this nigga had to be separated from birth LOLOLOLOLOL. Yoooo I fux with Face Off on SyFy too holy shit LOLOLOL. Nigga me and my girl were watching Hellraiser just a week ago on Netflix and YUUUUUUPPPPP it's sooo true ! Aye and in the second one we were saying how crazy the special effects was !! And you know what else made them so good ? The stories from Freddy to Jason, Creepshow, Trick R Treat (btw the GOAT homage to Pet Sematary when lil man slit the bus driver's achilles heel), Hellraiser, American Werewolf in London (GOAT movie classic), was that there was always a moral to the story. The monsters killed usually out of revenge of something horrible happening to them (Freddy was a child killer or so they thought), Jason was left to drown and his mom couldn't take it, Creepshow 1 & 2 in all the stories man it's always a moral to the story of some injustice that needs to be corrected often with evil things happening to morally inconsistent (bad) people.

Down to Pumpkinhead even, remember he never hurt outsiders only those who did the crime, the movie Saw, I mean I could go on and on. That's missing today.

And what made them soooo effective as well is that human nature isn't perfect, we're liable to do bad things or honest mistakes sometimes but the consequences can seem so crazy. To the person doing it , it may seem like a white lie but to another it can be the worst thing in the world. Remember that movie Devil ? Saaamme premise. I bring this all up to say, sequels and remakes they never seem to carry off of that tradition. It's absolutely incredible how little movies had back then but how effective they were in becoming classics. The sequels now it's just kids running through the woods getting fucked up for the sake of getting fucked up, there's no mental connection or fear. What made Jason or Michael Myers so crazy was they could be anyone, in The Raft dude's hubris/arrogance killed him "I beat you !!!" SMMFH, shit man I'm so glad you made this thread, cuz it makes you think and remember all the classic movies that came out. Dude if I was a director I'd be dropping non-stop classics - cuz I know my history and what makes a great movie LOLOL.

Man I couldn't agree more with what you said.

Bruh you mentioned that movie Devil. I never seen it but ain't Bokeem Woodbine in that? Yup I bet he a fuck up in that too.

Hellraiser. Man that shit still creeps me out. Look at this. Who thinks of this bruh. Dude how you round here inside out lol.

Lowkey I think that Hellraiser 2's underlying theme was a euphemism for child abuse and rape

The first one was just craaazy the 4th one tho where they was in space the one scene where dude gets his head cut off had me shook when I was a kid. Caught me off guard LOLOL, fuckin Hellraiser you just never know with that nigga maaannn LOLOL.

Shit I read an article on Den Of Geek one time that painted Hellraiser as a love story. LMAO

Silence of the Lambs

Jaws (probably more Sci-Fi)

John Carpenter's Halloween (first two movies)

The Devil's Rejects

Stephen King's Needful Things

Paranormal Activity (first two or three movies were actually done well then it started going to shit)

Rob Zombie's Halloween (first one only)

Insidious (first one)

Sinister (movie was legitimately scary watching at night alone)

The Exorcist

High Tension (An Australian horror flick that was well done imo)

Friday the 13th (not all of them though)

The Shining

Close Encounters of the Third Kind (Probably more so Sci-Fi)

The Ring

Phantasm (I actually like this horror series)

Those Creepshow movies were kinda dope

Poltergeist (original ones)

The Hitcher (one of the rare movies where I thought the original and remake where good)

Maximum Overdrive

Pet Semetary 1 & 2

The Sixth Sense

The Conjuring

From Dusk Til Dawn

John Carpenter's Vampires

The Fog

Devil (I thought this movie was very good with a lot of religious undertones)

The Crazies (very underrated horror flick)

Land of the Dead

The Hills Have Eyes (original and remake)

The Last House on the Left

World War Z

Jeepers Creepers (Neither was scary but I liked the plot of both movies)

Joy Ride

Super 8 (more so Sci-Fi)

The Purge

Alright, just finished Tales of Halloween. It's 10 stories that take place in one town, all on Halloween night. It's gory, funny and cheesy. It's a fun, crazy, over the top movie. It's creative. It's not scary, though, wanted it to be. But it paid respect/tribute to classic horror movies. I enjoyed it.

When you mentioned it the first time, I went to go look at Amc Theaters for a showing and it's not showing in my area. Shit I would have went seen that instead Crimson Peak today. And I'm having doubts about that one because I read its a gothic romance. Smmfh

It's on video on demand, ps4, probably Xbox 1, Amazon video - although it's $6.99 to rent from them..

wherever u can pay to rent a movie it's more than likely there. It was released in theaters but a super select few or something like that

*Nightmare On Em Street series* (especially #3)

Friday the 13th series

Halloween series (except for the third which had nothing to do with the rest of the series and I don't think I saw the first two)

The Exorcist (I guess)

Sleepaway Camp

I Know What You Did Last Summer 1 & 2

Dawn of the Dead remake

Stephen King's It

Child's Play original trilogy

28 Days Later

Children of the Corn (I remember liking it, I don't know if I would if I watched it again)

Evil Dead (same thing)

Village of the Damned remake

Pet Cemetery 1 + 2 (I don't know if I could watch it again, though)

The Invasion of the Body Snatchers (the 70's one and one of the 90's remakes)

Thinner

The Faculty

The Invasion

Disturbing Behavior

Village of the Damned remake

Invaders From Mars

Jeepers Creepers 1 & 2

Scream series

etc.

They don't make horror movies like they used to.

Candyman was the most disgusting movie I've ever seen. In the first one, the scene where she went into the washroom and there was shit all over the walls. It grossed me out for a long time. I remember in elementary school we had something like Candyman, you were supposed to go into a bathroom, turn the lights off and say 'bloody Mary' three times, or something like that.

Man Thinner is all kinds of fucked up. Ol boy went through a crazy transformation in that movie. Fucking around with them Indians
