Should the good people of the IC be involved in the appointing of new mods?

Gotta disagree with you there, at least based on my experience. I was a mod back in the day before the IC went away (when Odeisel was Admin) and then again after it came back (when @ThatDamnJay‌ became Admin). I don't recall calling in any special favors or knowing anybody that would vouch for me. I approached both Admin's myself and the rest is history. I believe my request was accepted both times because I embodied what the sub-forum I wanted to mod was all about and I posted in it on a regular. I knew how the sub-forum operated and ran it as such.
