Won't be no trump inauguration, but yea he should. It's part of being president.

I've read the Constitution several times plus it was part of the curriculum in 8th grade history and it doesn't say anywhere in Article II that going to your successor's inguaration is a part of the presidency. Just like the president doesn't have to appear at before a joint session of Congress to give the State of the Union. Presidents going to their successors inaugurations is just a 202 year old tradition that should be broken as a matter of g.p. if Trump is elected president.

Yep it's not a rule. Neither is pardoning a turkey on Thanksgiving and all them other dumbass traditions you're expected to uphold as prez. Point is the logic that 'Trump is racist so he shouldn't go' doesn't really fly. America being racist is not new. If yall didn't want him to be part of any racism, what good was becoming president in the first place?

Considering that he would be bearing witness to the ushering in of an presidency that is would be the biggest victory racism and white supremacy in the past 50 years, Obama should show he has some sort of dignity and not attend that fuckery should Trump be elected president. His absence at a Trump inauguration would send a powerful message and is without historical precedent considering that John Adams didn't attend Thomas Jefferson's inauguration.

Finally, on March 4, 1801, in the early morning hours of Jefferson’s Inauguration Day, Adams’s coach drew up to the door of the White House, with several wagons of packed furnishings behind. Even before sunrise, Adams was headed northward, back to Massachusetts, leaving the inaugural ceremonies and the White House to Jefferson.

It would be cool to see Obama give those racist fucks one last thing to be mad about as he resumes his life as a private citizen. If he did that shit, those muthafuckas would talk about that shit for last two weeks into a Trump presidency.

If he'd be a coon for attending the inauguration of that racist fuck, what would the people that voted him in (by way of voting for him, not voting, or throwing their votes away on 3rd party candidates) be??

I will never understand the bolded.

People would let this Bigoted excuse for a man become the leader of the free world ... because their favorite candidate is not the alternative ...

Most stubborn, impulsive, emotional shit I have ever heard.

Like getting your family killed by an oncoming mac truck because

"But, but ... I had the right of way" ass niggas

oh ye of such easy manipulation...

Fam, that sounds great as a quotable and all ... But do you not live in America?

You are partaking in the "game" whether you like it or not...

Are you going to change the "game"?

Or are you proposing that Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton pose the exact same risks to our country both domestically and abroad?

If you believe that, please, PLEASE, enlighten me...

Should the outgoing president attend the inauguration of the incoming president? Fuck outta here; of course he should. It's got nothing to do with the shitty person that Trump is, his racist views, etc. He should attend to show respect for the OFFICE of the president, not the actual president.

Because this shit is now a fucked up reality bump. Obama in his final as President of the United States he needs to show some nuts and on behalf of African Americans across the nation give a figurative "FUCK YOU," to this muthafucka and the racist white supremacists that voted for him.

He needs to move to Liberia and make a compromise with the African nation to get as many African descendants of America the fuck up out of here and citizenship over there along with good jobs and better healthcare and leave this fuck place of a country to the KKK, Mexicans, rednecks and coons.

Of course they are.

Just like how dude had negative things to say about bush while going through elections, after being elected he had nothing but praise for the man.

I can't believe people still don't get this.

I voted yes because Obama has always carried himself with dignity and self-confidence. And christ, i remember Cheney's face at Obama’s inauguration. He showed up.

But then I saw Rex cite a precedent I wasn't aware of. Now TO BE FAIR John Adams was kind of a dick and Jefferson was his arch enemy so i looked up the others:

Retiring Presidents

Only four retiring presidents have not attended the inaugurations of their successors. Those who were absent:

John Adams missed Thomas Jefferson's inaugural.

John Quincy Adams was not present at Andrew Jackson's.

Andrew Johnson was not at Ulysses Grant's ceremony.

Richard Nixon was not present at Gerald Ford's inaugural

Quincy Adams likely legit feared for his safety. This is Andrew Jackson we're talking about.

Nixon obviously wasn't attending that.....

.....and the less said about Andrew Johnson the better.

So it wouldn't be UNPRECEDENTED but its not a long list filled with particularly honorable names

President Obama and our First Lady have been the epitome of class for 8 years, I don't see that changing now.
