Seven Questions For Leaders
Do you let the facts get in the way of a good story?
Depends on wht I'm looking for, the facts themselves...or a good story....either way I going to hear them out. I find it serves a much stronger purpose to let a person tell something the way they wanted to tell it before making a decision..
What do you do with people who disagree with you... do you call them names in order to shut them down?
Again it depends on the situation..if the stakes are very high, and a descion has to be made, i'm going to need someone to throughly explain why it is that they're disagreeing with me, and even more important why their course of action should be followed....if either can be done..i can become impatient and might go to insults to illustrate my frustration with them not being able to form a strong opinon..however if they do form a strong opinon disagreeing with mines and a good reason why, and provide a thorough counter opinio, i'd be more than willing to give them their due
Are you open to multiple points of view or you demand compliance and uniformity? [Bonus: Are you willing to walk away from a project or customer or employee who has values that don't match yours?]
I've never been a fan of demanding anything but the proper respect to be heard out, and the respect of giving me an expliantion. so by default I'm almost always open to multiple points of views. If I am totally against it, and do not want to have no part of it whatsover I am very comfortable walking away from anything. However if it's simply that someone else's plan is better than mines to reach a similiar goal, I have no problem staying aboard.
Is it okay if someone else gets the credit?
very much so. I always prefer resuts over accolades. as long as the project is complete and sound I take more pride in that than actualy gettign the props for it....i don't like battling for ego's..it's too superficial IMO
How often are you able to change your position?
I'd never stand behind my postion if it has been explained and proven to me to serve no purpose... I refuse to allow my ego to get int he way of progress...unless i was on some bullshit... in which case I just wouldn't care then
Do you have a goal that can be reached in multiple ways?
the only constant in my goals is the preogressive mindset required in approaching them, any strategies after that can be altered at any time depending on the situation facing me
If someone else can get us there faster, are you willing to let them?
As long as nothing else suffers in the process, as in quality of work, attention to detail, obligatory duties....things like that.....
I need the integrity of the work to still be the same as if it had taken longerAbsolutely, depending on the stakes involved
