When he finally hit the scene he made the most of it. Same with Em, DMX, 50 shit anybody. It's what you do with it when you finally get your shot. I don't think Pac's and Big's death had anything to do with Jay blowing up. It just happened to be something happened. Yall niggas make it sound like their deaths came from the result of Jay dropping RD. if that's the case yall give Jay too much power.
rofl, the fuck you get that from? go and read again cuz you clearly clueless.

Nas' music actually has meaning to it and dudes flow has only gotten better with age....He still hasnt compromised his artistic integrity by jumping on the hottest niggas nuts, He does give the younger Mcs respect though

I do agree with most of the shyt you said, i don't know about the Larry Holmes shyt tho, he too successful to be seen that way.
Btw, it kills me tho when ppl tryna act like Kanye is the one dragging him down, hell nah...Watch the Throne is the album it is becuz of Kanye, and before that album came out Kanye came out with my BDTF and shyt was a pure hiphop album, a great effort by Kanye, so those are Kanye 2 last projects, wtf does Jay come with BP3, fo real? Shyt was garbo, no Kanye there...starting to see a pattern, so should yall...

False, Can i get a was the song what crossed over. Songs like Money ain't a thing, What's my name, and Annie only compounded his buzz.
You serious, money? "Hard Knock Life" was the record that really really crossed over. That famous Annie sample is what did it, especially for white people.
Can I Get A.. got over too but not as much. It mostly crossed over due to it being featured on the Rush Hour sdtk.

Hard Knock Life peaked at number 15 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, Can i Get A peaked at number 19 but Can I Get A came out first. Jay-z was already crossing over before Hard Knock Life dropped. Money Ain't a Thing also had him buzzing way before HKL dropped.

You can't be serious. Units moved differently back then and you trying to compare the two? Doesn't make sense chico.

To be real, Jay never pulled any numbers like that, and if your case is the year, Im sure Jay dropped albums in those years or close to and never did those numbers...

My argument includes several viewpoints to be considered.
You have so many different ways to buy an album now then you did back then. Especially with itunes incentive to buy from them with exclusive tracks unreleased anywhere else
Plus you have to look at the economical standpoint.
20 bones today is not worth the same as 20 bones back then.
Plus the game today is more so a blending of all regions which also is a factor in sales. Music wasn't as "universal" as it was then.
Lil Wayne success is derived more so towards the inclusion of more white fans listening to rap than say when Jigga was doing his thing. And that's double the money right there.

All that's irrelevant, because your choosing to emphasize on the context which obviously has an influence on the market, but the problem with that is AG came out in 2007 and BP3 came out in 2009...Wayne dropped in 2008 The Carter 3 that did over a mil in a week (thats obviously in between Jay droppin his albums) and then later on dropped The Carter 4 in 2011 and it did the same numbers, over a milli in the first wee... so your argument is clearly invalid.

nigga, you going to have me talk to you stupid. It has nothing to do with empathy and we were talking about HKL compared to The Carter, nigga. Now you talking about BP3 n shit. Stick to the script, word to jigga...
