You don't let students make rules. She broke rules, there are consequences for that. I don't see how having MULTIPLE adults ask you the same thing is being inflexible, if anything it only shows the stubbornness of the child. If your child is being taught not to follow rules or authority other than yours then keep em at home.

Teachers are already too close to just being high paid babysitters. One kid doesn't get to be obstinate and change the power dynamics of the school. No authority means no rules and at that point everybody might as well do what they want to.

So after talking to my mom, the story down there is that the chick took her phone out and was looking at it. The teacher told her to put it away and she didn't do so right away, so the teacher told her to leave. She refused and the teacher got the assistant principle. The girls wouldn't leave for the assistant principle either, so they called the cop.

He did what he did. The police chief said the cop was authorized to use force, but there is a specific way they are taught to take children down in cases like this. The way he took her out of her seat is not what they are trained to do and the way he dragged her was a reaction to her hitting him and definitely not protocol. So that's why he was fired.

I just explained that. The officer was authorized to take her down in that situation regardless of whether she was getting physical or not. Basically you can't just refuse to leave the class. If you do, the police can escort you out by force.

And there are cops in the schools down there because of attacks on teachers by students. So now they have cops assigned to each school to avoid that kind of thing.

Violence in schools is a family/community issue.

First we need to ask what the fuck is going on in these kids lives that they think can come to school and fight adults.

The problem is that few ppl want to actually solve problems. They want an easy fix.

It bottles my mind (and the minds of my fellow policing scholars) why ppl think that police are equipped to handle so many social problems.

U can't intimidate or arrest your way out of things.
