up and foul play seems likely, but just to separate meme truths from actual facts- trash bags can and are so allowed in some jails- as seen here in LA

That poster seems to be trying to convince us that trash bags are common in cells. Why that poster is trying to convince us?....I don't know. The photo that he shows is from a prison. Sandra Bland was only in a holding cell. There's a difference.

The media is pushing a new narrative about her "telling" the Texas cops that she wanted to kill herself last year, which I think is a lie. Even if true, in my opinion that's even more reason to make sure there was nothing in the cell for her to kill herself with.

The media is also pushing a narrative of her having weed in her system. They always make a big deal about black victims (Sandy Bland, Trayvon Martin, etc...) having weed in their systems, yet mostly white people (including the media) consume weed every single day.

they need to prosecute this cop.theres no way around this murder.she shouldnt die like that.cops have been getting away with too much BS for too long.it's time for this BS to stop.they abuse their authorities

Nah man, I'm just saying the internent can run rampant with half-truths that are rarely fact checked. This seems to be 1 of them. If the memes were saying the Waller County jail specifically bans trash bags, then yeah there would be more truth the claims that the blanket statement about bags never being allowed in any cell. If it were mandated that bags couldn't be allowed, and they gave this lady a trash bag then the actual press would be all over it. But bags were allowed in cells up until 3 days ago.

at any rate, I'm not trying to discredit any of the main pieces to this story.

Yes trash bags are allowed in jails but anything that a person can harm themselves with is not allowed in the cell if a person has not been classified yet. Reason why they take belt, shoe string and stuff like that.

So the jail has said that prisoners there have always got trash bags. Yeah it's dumb, but nothing appears to have been inconsistent with their past policies.

Its about the classification part of it. Once a person is booked and processed they still have to be classified. Part of that classification process is deciding what level of prisoner they are(low, medium or max security), mental health, if they are diabetic, ect. So if a person has not been classified then they are not allowed to have certain items in their cell.

Informative thread. I finally dragged my ass to read up on this story, and it is indeed sad though not uncommon. I still have two honest question that have yet to be answered, so maybe I can get some help?

1. Has there been conclusive/hard evidence that can prove that Bland was murdered?

2. What motive do the cops have in murdering Bland? Would they just kill her just because? Was it a "political" assassination? Is there any evidence suggesting that it was an accident, and then they tried to cover it up as a suicide? The last one seems most reasonable to me if they did kill her.

I agree with what MasterJay wrote below........
