It kind of cool how Cesear still had respect for Will at the end and dapped it up. Movie was very good, i love movies like this backtrack and give the back story to previous movies. Stuff like X-Men origins,Batman Begins, etc always end up being the best movies because it gives the other sequels context.

Co-sign...and I dig how Caesar was adamant about them not necessarily killing humans. His main objective was to be free not to enslave humanity, which leaves the door open for the sequel(s) to show how the relationship between Caesar and Will as well as the apes and humans eventually evolves and becomes what we know it will be.

But don't forget about the Gangsta Gorilla lol

definition of a TRUE G, was that mofo. lol. another trill moment was after the chopper crashed, and caesar gave the head to the scarred ape to push the chopper over. i can't even front, this movie topped tf3 as the best 2011 summer movie.

another trill scene...

when ceaser and the apes devise a plan to surround the cops on the bridge, use the bus as a sheild, had Ceaser come thru the mist on the horse, and all the other apes came from above and behind the cops...i was like

WHOOOOOOO!! Ceaser flat out was not to be f'd with!

after watching the 1968 og film.....

and conneting the "lost in space" & mars dots (thx to poster Still Cool Beans). and readin on the net that the producer says there will be a series of follow up films. and part 2 could be a "apes vs. humans war". w/ that bein said i could see part 3 bein basically a remake of the og film. w/ a new taylor who left earth way before apes vs human war, & he finds that the apes have won the war & erased all of humans history etc etc. wow intersting storylines if done right.

I personally feel like they should make this a trilogy, the second being the actual battle of the apes and humans and the 3rd a remake of the original in 1968, when the astronaut lands on earth far in the future

Movie was dope as hell. Had to go back and see it again. Caesar was straight G. I loved watching his persona evolve once he was put in the sanctuary. My favorite part of the movie. The original is one of my favorite movies all time and this joint was definitely a much more worthy addition to the franchise than the Mark Wahlberg remake.

I enjoyed all the nuggets too...Caesar's mom being nicknamed Bright Eyes like the apes called Taylor in the original, Caesar getting hosed like Taylor, Caesar playing with miniature Statue of Liberty right before he attacks the neighbor, the famous line by Heston being used, ol boy watching the original Planet of the Apes in the office right before the apes rebel and escape lol

I see a few people confused about the timeline, so just to clear it up, the original Planet of the Apes takes place some 2000 years into the future. So the apes have long been in power at that point and none of the characters you saw in Rise would've have been present then. So the ape with the scar wouldn't have been any character in the original cause he would've long since been dead. Also, to the apes in the original, Caesar is like a prophet, demigod, or messiah of sorts. There's a couple other nuggets too like that space flight that was entering Mars' orbit I'm assuming is the space flight carrying Taylor from the original film. If you notice after the apes escape the sanctuary and there's that shot where there in the trees over head and the leaves are falling into the street...when the little kids are tossing those papers into the yards and one lands on a porch you see the big headline that says "LOST IN SPACE". I'm pretty sure that's Taylor and his crew who will of course eventually return to Earth 2000 yrs later, well after the apes have taken over. There's room for several sequels here man. Who knows if there will be several sequels but there's definitely room for em.

Good post. I need to check out the original film.

Definitely. I loved this movie and I've seen it twice already. This will be the first DVD that I'll actually purchase since I bought 40 Year Old Virgin.

I liked that scene too and I love prequel films also. Goddamn I hope they do make this into a trilogy.

This was one of the best "ORGINS/REBOOT" that I have ever seen. It was a great addition to this Legendary series. You actually cared for Ceaser cause you watched his mother die a violent death and you watched him grow from infant to adult. Yes I was was rooting for the Apes over the humans. I also love the symbolism, you can clearly see a connection to "Race Relations". You even cared for James Franco character and his dad. The Effects were off the chain. I loved this film. I was skeptical going in cause honestly the Tim Burton one was OK but Mark Walburg just isn't that good of an actor which brought the film down. But It was an again OK remake.

What made "Rise" dope was they didn't over think it as far as how the apes became smarter. This is definitely a Trilogy waiting to happen. In the End Ceaser will obviously end up dying but he will be a Legendary figure in the Apes history. As for the sequel, the virus spreads and it will most likely be the Surviving Humans vs the new Ape population ish. My favorite parts of the film were when they escaped the animal shelter, the Golden Gate Bridge scene was off the chain. And When Ceaser said, "NO" and "I am Home" shit was Epic. They did such a great job on this remake and I feel though it was the 7th film in the series, it really revived the whole concept of the Planet of the Apes. This was the best Reboot for a series since "Batman Begins", Yes I'm going there, it was that good.

^ i hate when ppl compare the apes to blk ppl.

As a black man, so do I but there was clearly some race connections with the concept and in the original films also.
