OMG, my mother just text me this morning about the bad news. People as a whole need to be more conscious of their health and take more care of themselves, because Diabetes is no joke. May he forever rest in paradise.

This is not a case of someone who didn't take care of himself.....he's been fighting since the 90s when he got diagnosed

Glad I got to see them live at Rock The Bells 2008.

Yea I always talked about seeing Tribe that year as one of my favorite shows, now I'm really glad I got to see a legendary group smh

History

The company was founded by Julius Seaman in 1933[1] with its first store in Brooklyn, New York. The chain was in business for more than 70 years until it merged into Levitz in 2005.[2]

On February 8, 1990, Seaman's Furniture announced that Morton and Jeffrey Seaman would leave the company; it was later succeeded by Matthew D. Serra, former president and chief executive of G. Fox.[3]

The chain was known for its slogan, "See Seaman's First".

In popular culture[edit]

Seaman's Furniture is mentioned in a song by hip hop group A Tribe Called Quest. In the song "Electric Relaxation" on the their third album, "Midnight Marauders," Phife Dawg utters the ribald lyric: "Let me hit it from the back, girl/I won't catch a hernia/Bust off on your couch/Now you got Seaman's furniture."

Just dope shit

My brother just texted me and I came here hoping it wasn't true. I'm speechless, Phife and Tribe was the soundtrack of my youth..I can't sufficiently put into words how much they mean to me...

RIP Phife

Also I don't know how it is in y'all cities but the lack of a tribute to Phife and ATCQ music playing at least for an hr at least on the radio is disgusting. Phife Dawg forever!

Phife was the originator of rockin' sports apparel in Hip Hop! OG was rockin' throwbacks before they where throwbacks! Fuck Q-Tip for doing him foul all those years!

R.I.P

Not to mention he knew tons of shit about sports. He could break down games and issues in sports like he did it for a living. You can see examples of it in that documentary a few years back. A true hip hop artist and a true sports fan.
