Ya'll are the ones exaggerating the significance of this one incident. No one was in here trying to make it seem like this one incident is the end all be all of the perception of black people in this country. We were talking about the way black people are portrayed as a whole and how incidents like this and the need some people have to promote shit like this plays into the overall perception.

You can't support BLM and not get this because the only way a protest movement like that works is if it can sway enough of the public to get the attention of people in power and force them to take action. If most of the public, stupid as it might be, envisions incident like this as being typical of black people, you're going to be hard pressed to convince them that the crazy incidents with the cops aren't justified.

That's pretty much the narrative that's currently being used to attack BLM. I don't really see how you can support a movement but cosign the unnecessary BS that contributes to attacks on the movement.
