I know it's easier said than done, but I think Ricky should go the Indie route. He's already a well accomplish artist that isn't financially struggle like most new rappers. This man has longevity in the game and a consistent fan base. I honestly believe that this was a bad business deal; no shade!

Niggas will nosign but I think Ross' MMG has the best marketing strategy in the game since Dipset, I'd say they are TODAY'S modern day Dipset where they have indie and major labels pushing their artists like stars. Ross should definitely just go indie but I think he cares a lot about how he's perceived and wants to keep that going. He'd make more money being 100% independent.

Ross is the biggest money pit in music, he gets marketed like a much bigger star and doesnt have album sales to make the investment worth it, it makes sense imo for him to let a company put up the money than his own money

If he wanted to put up his own money to keep the type of marketing hes had in the past and continue to not sell well...the return on investment may not be worth it and taking the money from the parent company may be the safer play

Also remember this is 4 albums in a row where ross has sold less than his prior project, hes trending in the wrong direction

I can see this, but at the same time, if the only money these artists are generating stem from tours and singles/streams, I'd be reluctant to pay for any of their shit. Which is what I think all these labels are doing. The only way I can see this working out for anybody is if they stop pressing a million albums, buying 20K of them and expecting to actually sell the others.

That means, advances get smaller. These rappers don't need major studios, they have their own shit. As a rapper, signing with a major is just getting a check and making it seem like you're getting more out of it than what you really are. Then again, if these niggas are really moving any kinda weight, at the very least they can launder things properly with the money.

That said, we still don't know the terms of Ross's contract, but we can rule a few things out if we really care to. Just know, whether he's broke and in a slave deal or not, the nigga will still call himself a boss. And you (the consumer) will eat that shit up.
