I do agree with the threadstarter too though. I think Ross stepped his lyrical skills up with Trilla and Deeper Than Rap and I'm a fan of his music, but his lifestyle seems fabricated beyond belief.

Plenty of rappers took their stage names from real gangstas, but Ross should've never fronted on the person he got his name from. For him to stop taking Ross phone calls and basically act like that's not where he got his entire persona is disrespectful. The real Ricc Ross said Freeway showed him love and reached out like a man.

I some Florida cats on this site claiming that Ross was a CO bacc in '06 and they didn't make an issue out of it because CO's are known to be crooked. So people have known for a long time. All he had to do was admit it and keep it moving

Im not sayin I care that he was a C.O. I just care that he has the gall to lie to the world about not knowing that Freeway Rick Ross is where he got his whole persona from. That shit affects his music because if he didnt have Freeway Rick Ross' life to pull from ...what would his music be? All the shit that he had before he came up with the Rick Ross persona, which wasnt enough to succeed. Equivalent to "The Bagheads" and all the other acts CB4 had before they stole Gusto's identity.

And another thing its not just rap music fans that use to care about "Credibility" Many people criticized Marilyn Manson for "going glam" selling out to his true fanbase. David Lee Roth criticized for similar reasons after he left Van halen. It worries me that rap fans just dont care anymore. AZ's name is Antonio Cruz and he never denied knowing AZ from harlem fame. He also didnt steal how that nigga looks down to the how he wears his facial hair. Scarface is a fictional character that never spent time and that mad hood people were inspired by in the movies...My nigga Brad Jordan from Houston is in no way on Rick Ross Status....Wu-Gambinos was a song on OB4CL and also a group within the Wu-Tang as a whole. They are some creative niggas...been creating links to mafia shit to imply that they were a crime family...but they never stole someone eles' whole personality...they got fuckin comic book aliases!
