I never got the infatuation w/ Ross being a c-o. It has nothing to do w/ his music, so why does it matter? Yes, he rapped about it, but most musicians have lyrics that portray a lifestyle they never lived. Nobody checked to see if Curtis Mayfield was really a pusher. Nobody tested MJ's "gangsta" when he made an album called Bad. Seriously, these people who are more obsessed w/ a rapper's lifestyle more so than they are the music are in desperate need of fathers, a life and/or a female.

Cmon man be real niggas arent obsessed with a rappers lifestyle....credibility has always mattered in hip-hop. Curtis Mayfield talked about his influences for making pusherman it was made for the movie "SUPER FLY" it was about that character and it displayed a lifestyle that was "REAL" in ghettos of America. Rick Ross stole some guy from California's name and life and "BEARD" and just acted like it was his. Not only did he do this this nigga denied he even knew about "FREEWAY RICKY ROSS" and its not that hes a C-O that nigga "DENIED" it even after he was outed. That nigga hates his real life so he denys, denys, denys. That comes off as fake and hurts credibility. Check MJ's lyrics in Bad again and tell me if hes really talkin about being a gangsta or just standing up to niggas who are portrayin like they BADASS! Pleaseknow that everyone who cares about credibility and common character about people who they listen to arent concerned with niggas personal lives and damn sure aint female.

It's true that Rick Ross denied that he was a c-o, but should this overshadow his music? My point w/ Curtis Mayfield is that people that listened to Superfly who weren't aware that it was a soundtrack to the movie would assume that these are things that Mayfield did the same way people thought Superfly was real and tried to emulate his life. As for MJ, listening to the lyrics in the songs on those albums, it could be easily implied that MJ is playing the role of someone who's "bad." People who weren't aware that he was referring to himself as an artist and not someone who would literally "kick your butt" as he put it, could say that Mike was trying to shed that good guy image especially seeing the video and the album cover. When we look at the lives of these rappers, it's stupid to assume that what they portray in their music is who they really are the same way that someone would claim that MJ was "Bad" or that Curtis Mayfield was a "pusher."

Rick Ross is just a rapper who was outed. A thorough interview w/ a lot of rappers would reveal insecurites within themselves that might have motivated them to do music in the first place. A lot of artists are misguided and do not know who they are in the first place and music allows them to be who or what ever they want to be. The good ones are convincing enough to make people buy into it. If those people who bought into it and base their whole perception of that rapper around the character and not the music, you can't blame the artist.
