never been a fan of Ross.

Dude is an average rapper who gets carried by production and features.

Dude cant even get one plat album and dropped so many.

I'll never understand why this matters to people, especially on here who will turn around and downplay sales on rappers they do like

sales arent everything but they do count for something.

All the rappers called legends currently have at least one plat album under their belt

Sales play a role to the record company..

A true artist make music from the heart,

not just to get rich..

However ALL artist should pay attention to the paperwork,

and make sure the money is right..

That's the difference between an artist who cares about his craft

and an artist who replicate whatever is hot at the moment,

and jump on different trends to sell records..

Musicians that are passionate about their craft,

are the ones that last the longest..

Scarface

Andre 3000

NAS

Pac

Common

These are a few MC's I can name off the top of my head,

that come across like all they music comes from their heart..

I think Kendrick and J. Cole is passionate about their music as well,

but I need a few more albums from them, before I place them in that category..

Drake (in my opinion) is a cornball,

However, I have to admit that he seems passionate about his music..

music is expression of self.

no matter what race or sexual orientation, you have the right to express yourself how you want.

If he didnt like black women at a point in time so what.

Black men even talk bad about black women. you sir are the racist

Never understood why ppl be on thst "you sir" talk on the internets? Why do ppl assume the voice of an Englishman from James bond in the sixties, when they type on boards?

They must transcend trends and make niggas care about their brand again. Atleast T.I., he needs to stick to what made him huge (originality/attitude) and not be so quick to embrace the up and comers. It makes you irrelevant as an artists when you abandon your own style in favor of something popular at the time and compromise your integrity as the primary performer. Something he did with Future and Young Thug, both under average rappers who outshined him on his own songs.

TI at the point where he should pick records that mean something to him, not just what he thinks will do well in the club/radio... Thats how you grow with your fans, you dont force feed your die hard fans with cheap shit just cause you hope will gain you favor with a younger audience. I sincerely believe this is how TI went from a platinum selling artist, to a more famous reality star/entertainer who can no longer sell albums

For Ross, its a different story, his career is a blessing b. From C.O. to wearing tight jerseys next to Trick, to being the biggest boss we've seen thus far without the numbers to back it... Rick Ross turned a lie into a dream. He should be championed for how far he made it, not how far he didn't

Get out your bitch ass feelings. Sales are only a fraction of what they used to be, especially in rap. The only rapper selling 2 mil anymore is Eminem (for obvious reasons), and even his sales are slumping. Drake has been arguably the hottest rapper, sales wise, in recent years and he still hasn't touched double platinum. Shit's almost impossible these days.

In the late 90s/early 2000s, Jay, Eminem, Nelly, Outkast, DMX, Dr Dre, Ja Rule were going double platinum like it was nothing. Who's done that the last 2 years outside of whiteboy Mathers? Jay had to practically give away a million copies to go double plat. Shit is sad and it's only getting worse. Think it's bad now? Imagine how bad sales are going to be 10 years from now. Motherfuckers going to sell 10,000 copies and have the #1 album in the country.
