Let me end this like this. As I said before having a ghostwriter shows me you have no passion, aren't creative, lazy,or just cant straight up write a good song. Now P.Diddy isn't known as an Emcee but when your friends with one of the best rappers Biggie Smalls who ends up tragically passing away you wanna give him a good tribute right? I bet know one knew "I'll be missing you" wasn't even written by Diddy in fact Sauce Money wrote that whole song Diddy just made money off of it. To me that discredits the P.Diddy a lot because not only I'll Be MIssing You was his biggest song of his career because it was supposed be a tribute for Biggie hes closes friend but you let someone else write a tribute for your homeboy? And one of the biggest well known songs in Hip Hop "Rappers Delight" was actually written by Grandmaster Caz.

THESE ARE FACTS

cmon son dont get butt hurt over a L and start typing in all caps

My vote goes to pralims. Both sides made good points, but it was as if menace was arguing if ghost writing SHOULD effect an emcee's legacy, instead of if it DOES effect their legacy. Since the debate subject was if ghost writing effects their legacy, the stronger argument, in my opinion was made by pralims.

Great debate.. There were a lot of good points made by you both

@Pralims.

Excellent last post, but i really thought you could've went harder by elaborating on this:

actually an emcees job is to maintain crowd control and host and entertain.

only in hiphop does emcee mean lyric writer. but it's so much more than that.

Presence

energy

delivery

personality

I know its self explanatory, but some more effort on these could've helped. (Especially since you wasn't even debating like that until shit got real.)

I think you made up for it with this great response:

so if gille wrote his rhymes and gillie put out a record...gillie record should do just as good as waynes in theory right? but it doesnt because wayne has incredible energy to care those lyrics and bring the crowd into it. while the ghostwriter cant get people to move let alone pay attention.

Its hard to debate against that, and I'm glad you saved that for last so your opponent couldn't respond to it. It reminds me of the GOAT Jay-Z's line on "Lost Ones":

I heard motherfuckers saying they made Hov

Made Hov say, "OK so, make another Hov"

My question is.. Would you have mentioned that if Mence didn't leave himself open for it? Going back to you last debate, i feel you let the other poster be the agressor. I'm not sure if this is just your strategy.. but it works! Your re-butt game be on point, so i can't knock you for that.

I'll drop my @_Menace_ observation in a minute. I'll let y'all know who i'm voting for after that.

I like Menace because of the effort he put into all of his responses. All 3 posts were hard hitting, and you can tell he was into the debate. I don't think Pralims was really involved until the 2 post.

I think Menace held off going in on the Nas and Untitled situation. I think that issue caused a major uproar throughout Hip Hop, and totally crushes Parlims "nobody cares in a week" theory he made in post 1. If Jay-E did come out an say "yeah, i wrote all of that shit'' i'm pretty sure it would've been a big deal no matter how late the album was in Nas career.

Looking through this again, i really don't know who i liked more. I'll go with Menace because he tried harder to push his own points. Parlims rebuttals were nice, but he was too comfortable going off whatever Menace said instead of working on his own points.

shit....I've been reading these debates for two days....pralims made good arguements and so did...menace....fuck I'm read again again my vote

alright....I did a quick skim and saw the points that I like....

as far as pralims goes....he did make compelling arguments as to why having a ghostwriter doesn't matter when speaking on delivery, energy, personality and mic presence....because the way I see it...if you can't really bring those incredible rhymes to life...then what does it really matter....because first and foremost...its all about the presentation....but I disagree with the "nobody cared about that Ice Cube wrote that Eazy E quote".....I have to disagree....nobody cared back then but as time went on and things started to come out....that face that The D.O.C. and Ice Cube did the majority of the writing added more so to their legacy while Eazy E is moreso legendary for being the brainchild of the crew as a whole....

also Menace is right....Hip Hop is supposed to be a craft and an outlet for your creative impulses and life experiences.....also when you look at all the emcess that are considered GOATS....how many of them had ghostwriters?....not many that I can think of....I mean think about it.....lets take our most beloved albums.....if Jay Z didn't really write Reasonable Doubt....Jay would catch hell for it....there was a rumor that somebody "The Ripper Strikes Back" for LL and the people wanted answers.....

and as for saying Game's and Waynes legacies are not harmed....well....neither one are GOAT contenders....

Instead you're letting someone write for you and try to walk in your shoes trying to picture what you might say.

Lets say AZ ghostwrote all of Nas's illmatic (which is arguably the best hip hop album of all time) your going to tell me you'll still consider Nas one of the Elite Emcees? Or what if Big L and Memphis Bleek wrote all of Reasonable Doubt that wouldnt effect Jay's legacy as an EMCEE?

In Hip-Hop if you write your own lyrics and your lyrics are dope you get respect from your peers and others around you as a true lyricists. If you have someone writing your rhymes and that song becomes a hit you dont say "I made a classic" Naw YOUR GHOSTWRITER made that song a classic you just had the flow and delivery to make it feel like a hit.

this is what did it for me.....I give it to menace

oh whats the vote count?

interesting question....votes in a debate topic should be explained...not simply "such and such gets my vote"

Only the votes that were explained will count and if someone votes for someone simply because they agree with their side of the argument that vote won't count either.

So, ya'll trying to ignore the favor of the Gods????

Pralims wrote this.....

but money talks an can keep certain shit hidden and names dont have to be added to credits....so we dont really know who ghostwrote for who...at this point no one cares no more....because lyrics are so watered down people only listen to the beats now.

this topic only mattered in the golden age of hiphop...not the current where its the norm.

Word to Easy-E......

Which is why he won this debate...........

The other poster said.....

As I said before having a ghostwriter shows me you have no passion

And I think this is speculation, like much of his argument...........
