im what you call a backpacker but i'll be the first to tell you there is no such thing as real hip hop

you have good hip hop, average hip hop, and bad hip hop but nowadays i guess the standard of each is all opinionated

If I had to choose between the two, yeah, cause Lupe's music is fukking boring. I listen to music to be entertained.

I mean, if you're talking about street life and living it, that's fine. If you're talking about money and you got it, that's fine. Talk about women and you got em, fine. If all you have to talk about is money and hoes, you need to live life and then make some music. At least talk about how great you are. Slaughterhouse makes some beast hip hop and mostly they only talk about how great they are and about how garbage all these pop rap dudes are. Some people have a particular audience and they are good. Wiz Khalifa is nice, but I don't smoke weed so it's hard for me to really relate to any of that. Anyway hip-hop is rap, but rap isn't necessarily hip-hop, feel me?

I don't like intelligent rap or anything that makes me have to think. I can't relate to it. To me all that matters is the beat and the replay value. That's what I buy music for. To bang in the whip. You can rap about all kind of shit. I don't care if you're rapping about an orange. If it's got a bangin beat to it i'm buying it. And that's just what it is....

I feel you. It was just the "It's just music" thing that got me. Music is a lot to me. I feel y'all on the fact that sometimes you just want some shit that's loud and hard. Fuck it, throw on Three 6 and tear da fuckin club up! lol.

Real hip-hop should be more than the music, it should get to your soul. J. Cole, Fabolous, Nas, and Little Brother are some of the few real hip-hop artists. When I listen to their music it's like I can feel what they're trying to say about society, the rap game, the government, or anything instead of most rappers who just talk about a materialistic lifestyle that isn't relevant to 90% of us.

Fab and J.Cole don't fit. Your statement in itself is a contradiction.

fuck what people think listen to what you like don't let somebodys opinion on music dictate your taste.

Cosign. Soulja Boy is hip-hop to me. Nas is hip-hop to me. Hip-hop is not rap. Hip-hop is a movement.

Soulja Boy!!!!!!!!!!!! You lost me on that one, bruh

Whether you like it or not, kids and young adults enjoy dancing. Everyone is not in the club getting drunk and mean muggin' other people. Our dances are part of the hip-hop culture. Also, Soulja Boy is a young black entrepreneur because of music. If that's not hip-hop, what is?

Also, Soulja Boy makes sing-a-long shit that isn't that bad. It's like a negro spiritual shit. He does need to leave the actual rhyming alone though, and stay in his lane.

Everyone can relate to the lyrics, whether or not you like the style used.

Ok ok ok...I'll give you that. The party and fun shit is hip-hop. He's just a walking clown to me though. Like, he's everything that makes people go...oh, look at this bling bling tatted up black dude with skinny jeans on still saggin. LOL. I just hate to see people use their fame and never stand for something. You see Nas, you can say Nas is real pro Black and he's somewhat of an activist, TI is a guy that gives to the community a lot, Kanye West is a dude that has to make sure everyone knows he is present. Soulja Boy just doesn't have an identity to me other than being rap's Justin Bieber.

Aye, it's just his opinion. Doesn't necessarily speak to his intelligence. He could have more important things going on and just wanna chill and not really pay that much attention to music, ya know? Some folks just are not that into music.
