Nah, they have a purpose. When people say stupid shit we can wack that post instead of having 20 people quoting that post to tell them how stupid they are.

Instead of people quoting a post and not only saying it's stupid, but WHY they feel that way..they're clicking a reaction.

It's killing the conversation and the potential debate before it can even get started.

Even before reactions, posters rarely explained the why

I could see it then it went away.

I click a reaction, it shows me everyone that also reacted the same way and then I clicked again to add my reaction. Now it's nothing.
