I actually underestimated, or just wasn't feelin, Jay-Z, the first time I heard him. The first shit I ever heard from Jay, was either when I saw The Streets Is Watching or this song he had on No Limit's I Got the Hook-Up Soundtrack. But after I heard "Can I Getta.." and copped Vol. 2, I went back and checked out Reasonable Doubt and In My Lifetime. It was just the first tracks of his I heard were some of his worst, so it took some convincing on my part. I guess I could say the same about Biggie. I honestly never owned a Biggie album until after he died. I realized when I picked up Life After Death that I'd been sleepin. So I went and got Ready To Die too. I had judged his music off of his radio singles and never gave his albums a chance. I pretty much did the same with Eminem. When The Slim Shady LP came out, it was a while before I grabbed a copy. All I had heard was "My Name Is" and "Guilty Conscience" so, understandably, I was an instant fan. It wasn't until I heard the album with songs like "Role Model", the one about giving the girl mushrooms, and "Just Don't Give A Fuck" that I realized he was tight. I still wasn't really an Eminem fan though, until The Marshall Mathers' LP came out.

Jay-Z...I honestly used to be a serious hater of Jay-Z until I heard the Blueprint 1 album in 01...that album is what made me a Jay-Z fan...that's when I went back and listened to alot of his other material and discovered RD, and some of his other songs he did before 2001...after that I had to admitt that nigga is just nice on the mic

when I heard "24s" I grouped him in with the rest of the southern rapper who blew up that year like Bone Crusher, David Banner (another dude I underestimated at first), Ying Yang Twins, etc.....when I heard "Bring Em Out" I became a fan

Joe Budden - gave him his props once I heard him destroy Jay-Z on "Pump it up"

Ray Cash - his debut album solidified his talent

Beanie Sigel - "1000 bars" made me into a believer

Freeway - once you get pass his screechy ass voice, son is nice

Joell Ortiz - Slaughterhouse album

Ludacris - him freestyling on Rap City

oh I underestimated the hell out of David Banner...my older brother had to force me to sit down and listen to Caddilac on 22's to get a different pereception of him cuz I was convinced he was garbage...after hearing that song and "Bush" Banner has been one of my favorite rappers since

I underestimated Common. My older brother used to listen to him and I would say some ignorant stuff about him. Then I grew up. At this point, Common's is my favorite rapper. I realize how wack my perspective was as a teen LoL.

Truthfully I used to under estimate Nas when he first dropped. I used to think he was trying to be Rakim.

But then I heard Illmatic and threw all my under estimations out the window.
