Dizzy Rascal was the one that paved the way for UK rappers in mainstream hip hop.

Not Slick rick, not monie luv.

Dizzy! The first rapper played around the world that didn't speak Queens english and spoke how the people really speak over there.

Do yall agree?

@englishdude @CeLLaR-DooR @blue_london

Came out when I was about 13. Shit was all anybody played for years. Even now it gets dope reception at the club

I know she ain't a rapper but Mary put Yonkers on first didn't she

If that's the case might as well say a Motown act for Detroit, Jodeci for North Carolina, and Marvin Gaye or Johnny Gill for DC.

If we wanna go down that rabbit hole, then Michael Jackson put Gary on the map before Freddie Gibbs.

Eastside Moonwalker. 2300 Jackson Street Moonwalker.

Alright so who put Brooklyn on?

We can easily say Wu tang for Staten Island and Krs for the Bronx.

But who's that one Brooklyn rapper that sticks out the most? Keep in mind Brooklyn was already a staple before hov

Kane

Nah Philly was on the map in the late 80s. They had the best DJs that won the DMC DJ championships 3 years in a row (Jazzy Jeff, Cash Money, DJ Miz).

Also they had Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince, Cool C, Steady B and Three X Dope.

Also The Roots came out before State Property.

Non of em dudes had mainstream success except will but his sh!t wasn't hittin… nun of em dudes had tha hood crackin like this

Nosign

First of all, State Property didn't have "mainstream success".

Second of all, Three X Dope, Cool C and Steady B had a crew called The Hilltop Hustlers. They all dropped albums between 87-91.

^^^ All of those videos got played on Yo! MTV Raps and Rap City

5 grand u wrong.

I agree with @trendsetta1030

State prop put Philly on. Everybody and they mama knew will was from Philly but he didn't open the doors for record labels starting to check for Philly.

State prop came with 7 dope spitters that took over the roc. With opened the doors for acts like cassidy, meek and whoever.

So when Jazzy Jeff won the DMC contest in 1986, Cash Money won the DMC contest in 1987 and DJ Miz won in 1988 people weren't checking for Philly?
