My thoughts exactly. According to the article she claimed to have told him 'NO' but it doesn't really go into detail about what made this case different than typical rape cases of that kind.

After glancing over the article I have mixed feelings, on one hand, I'm happy the guy got a sentence that didn't destroy his life since apparently his actions didn't justify that outcome. On the other hand, it's sad that due to the atypicality of this case, it unfortunately incites a response of victim blaming which (regardless of a victims culpability) contributes to the rape culture embedded in our society.
