because of power. its complicated but at some point we were allowed to gain too much power and it corrupted them as a whole. with as much power and knowledge that we gained, we assumed that nobody else knew anything worth knowing, so we shut them out and considered them savages and animals and then treated them as such. it really is proven that absolute power corrupts absolutely. not that the whites had absolute power perse, but we reached our limit on how much we can handle alone without losing the sense of justice and making it all about us.
