Both of you also seem to be arguing about whether its better to live a life of suffering or to die. Many victims of slavery and the Holocaust experienced both, so their lives weren't that different at all. But what many of them did do was to die fighting for their lives which is admirable for both parties of victims. They didn't compromise. They fought the same fight.

Jews did not get reparations. They received international aide after a genocide attempt.

Japan received war reparations. This is not "sorry for making you work for free" money. This is "sorry we bombed your civilians and destroyed your entire infrastructure" money.

Native Americans did not get reparations. The Native nation-states are independent governments, most of which have negotiated treaties with the US government. Indians do not get a check every month, as so many people seem to believe. Their own independent local governments have systems of social welfare that are unique.
