Krs One didn't say anything that was etherous. All he did was added emphasis on his words to make it seem like it was brutal. Like I said Krs isn't really lyrical like y'all proclaim him to be

Son called Nelly Top 5 DOA

Krs one was making a dumb attention seeking attempt by getting all in his feelings about something he knew damn well was not a diss to him. I think the general public basically saw this as bullshit, which it was. It's hard to win a battle when you have no real point.

Like Papoose said relevance over excellence.

That is the best quote ever to have come from the wrong person.

While we're at it, yes i wholeheartedly agree. Cats like KRS-One are the definition of pure evil, he is so immeasurably manipulative that he uses big words to impress these very impressionable underground fans who get a boner for every big word he spits. This is an evil circle which leads to people actually believing that there is substance in KRS-One's rhymes when in actuality all he does is brainwash and destroy the youth.

And really, he can't be good lyrically anymore when he got his ass handed to him lyrically by Nelly even though i fully believe that Nelly is Top 5 DOA.

So KRS is remembered among legends and pioneers while Nelly is peered up with Nick Cannon, Chocolate Dropper and now sells as many records as KRS.

I aint even gon lie, Nelly killed that nigga with #1 and that song hard as hell

That stuff was een directed towards KRS really but nigga caught all kinds of feelings and thought it was still 742 BC so he went against one of rap's giants and lost as expected.

Nelly is mad underrated lyrically for real.

I think KRS started with Nelly for a opportunistic ass reason. but nelly is not no damn top DOA nothing. fuck that

Would you care to elaborate as to why you do not accept Nelly's position as one of the very finest amongst the five most excellent of poetry in motion? Both you and I are cognizant that Nelly's presence in rap brought along a completely new and innovative type of style which revolutionized rap as we now know it. Suffice to say, he was more or less one of rap's founding fathers.

to be a founding father you have to have been around since this shit started and actually helped get it started. he definately helped usher in duets with country singers tho lol

Lets speak of it as every decade had its founding fathers, i'm not even going to mention the 80's since every rapper from that era is ass. The 90's had Tupac and Biggie and the early 2000's equivalents of that were definitely Nelly and 50 Cent.

As for that duet, i can't remember how many nights I stayed up listening to it being hung up over some bitches. Nelly is truly amazing, he has a song for every instance.

I hate to say it but this 40 year old man that grew up listening to KRS One and bought all of his albums agrees with the threadstarter. KRS's diss to Nelly was lame, ineffective and pointless.

Nelly's diss wasn't lyrical but he got directly to the point and that's really all that mattered.

In the end, we got to see KRS in the Beef 2 DVD admitting that he lost because he didn't have the machine behind him. It doesn't really matter why he lost, he lost. Nelly beat KRS One in a MC battle fair and square.

I remember when that "You Don't Really Want It" diss came out on the internet and I was expecting some lyrical heat from the blastmaster and it was more like a dud firecracker.

I'm starting to think KRS is the Paul Robeson of Hip Hop, he spoke out about everything corporate like there was another way to do things, but these major corporations all blacklisted him. Don't get me wrong, he'll always be able to pack a nightclub that holds 300 people (which most MCs from his era can't do) but his days of having his video played on MTV and getting the cover of The Source are long gone.
