Nelly "won" because he was more popular at the time.

False

these niggas is equal at this point. KRS said not one quotable in that battle. Thats why he lost.

No radio only playing Nelly's response was why he won.

Nigga KRS hadnt been on the radio in 20 years at that point. But battles was all over mixtapes. D block vs the lox. Hov vs Nas. Hov Vs. Budden. Shady/aftermath/ g unit vs murder inc. His response was in the streets it was a dud. KRS sold his fans a lie and u bought it. KRS best line was "dont buy his album". KRS stayed speaking like he was a rap god and when it was time to prove to 80s and 90s babies he dropped the ball.

Nelly's response was on Roc The Mic. Which was one of the hottest songs out at the time. KRS One did spit some real shit. The teeny boppers and the pop crowd gave Nelly the W, because that was all they heard during the beef was HIS RESPONSE. Ask them to even name KRS One's response I bet they couldn't tell you.

I was in high school during that battle. Think a jr. Before the Rock The Mic verse he hit KRS with "im tired of niggas talkin whats real hip hop. Most the time it be them niggas who album flopped. Boat dun sank and aint left the dock". Without him name dropping I knew immediately who he was talkin bout. KRS was moaning and griping only to later cosign souljah boy. And now im 27, jus listened to his response again in this thread. That nigga didnt say one attention grabber in the whole song

Those lines in Number 1 weren't directed at anybody. You ever heard of " rapper x"? Rapper x is just an imaginary mc or opponent a rapper talks about on songs. KRS One took it personal and dissed Nelly. I give Nelly credit at least he responded back. But lyrically KRS One got at Nelly and it's not even close.

Gimme a KRS quotable please

Im sure you've seen the commercial for 2k...

A quotable nigga

Without using google name KRS One's response to Nelly's Roc The Mic response? How can people give a damn about something or not if they haven't heard it?

Niggas wouldn't even know the beef was popping if it wasn't for KRS prehistoric ass coming outta the blue and dissing Nelly. If it was a known fact that they were beefin back then, niggas should sure as hell have known that KRS had a couple of disses lined up against Nelly since he incited the whole damn thing. But nobody was checking for his irrelevant ass, therefore nobody listened to his shit because it was a waste of time. Nothing else man, no money, no power labels none of that. Nelly was simply better and went on to sell seven million copies while KRS-One only came out as a bitter old man. If that aint a L then I dont even know what a L is. Flawless victory ma nigga.

Nigga caught all kinds of lauces.

Niggas knew about the beef because it was talked about on hip hop radio stations and the fact that radio played Nelly's response.

smh @ all these excuses, nelly didnt win he just got more radio play? smh. im sure krs holds enough weight in the rap game to have gotten that diss played, he just didnt, it was wack, and nelly's diss came as part of a good song, krs shoulda just stayed in his lane

Lol @ niggas calling what krs one and nelly had a "beef"....this has to be the most thrown around missed used term in hip hop along with goat.

@Jamaica

Proof is the stillmatic freestyle, shit went over way to many heads and barely put a dent in Jay's armor, ether wasn't lyrical but it was what it had to be to win that battle, it turned Jay's dumbed down audience against him

Nelly won because he dissed KRS and turned it into a hit everybody was bumping number 1 Nelly was one of the hottest artist at the moment its ether having to walk around and hear a nigga dissin you on the radio constantly and people love it

Let's fast forward....,,,Nelly won at that time, meanwhile KRS is still respected and called a hiphop legend, while Nelly went on to make one of the worst duets in hiphop history(Tim McGraw?? C'mon dog smh) and now nobody cares about his music so he is known as the guy who goes on ESPN to talk shit about Kobe, or as One of the whipping boys of Kevin Hart. The first thing people think of when they hear. Nelly's name is Hot in here.
