This is the movie I expected 2015's Fantastic Four to be.

Kimberly: what does that even mean? Are we Power Rangers first or friends?

The best films in the superhero genre utilize the fantastical elements as a backdrop for a humanistic story with emotion and character depth. A better director could have dug deeper but this script and this fantastic cast certainly delivered. So by the time we get to the action, we understand on a feasible level how and why these teenagers would be willing to fight beside one another.

I saw in BeyondTheTrailor review how she didn't think the characters were good role models for moviegoing kids. But that's really only if you have a pessimistic view of humanity where once someone does something wrong, they have no chance for redemption. It's a very privileged position to take but the idea that five teenagers who, as we've all experienced, dealing with countless thoughts and emotions, could manage to find a bond with one another to the point where they'd be willing to risk their lives for one another is incredible as a concept.

I'd be willing to watch this again. Something tells me ill enjoy it even more on second viewing.

Why the fuck didnt they give the Blue Ranger CPR when they thought he died? He was under water for only like 15seconds. That was fucked up. Couple pumps on his chest water woulda came up & he woulda been back breathin.

He was the perfect one to die. He was the most likable character and the only one who didnt have any beef with any of the others so they all felt it. And he got resurrected like 3 minutes later, so why you crying? lol

Saw it last night. It was cheesy at times, but overall a very solid film and more realistic portrayal of teenagers than the show which was more catered towards children. Like others have said, the pace at times was out of wack and I didn't like them not morphing til towards the end, but I understand how it helped the character development.

Billy was the star IMO. Trini/Yellow is supposed to only be a part time dyke, so I could see them hooking her up with Black. Red just looked weird to me. He was def the most bland. But like others said, he'll be knocked to the back of the bus when Green comes thru to crush the buildings so I aint mad.

The O.G. Pink still looking fuckable.

And maaan when that theme song started with the Zords marching to battle...

Overall 7.5 outta 10.

Nigga have you watched any American film from the past 30 years with a supporting black character with a majority white cast?

This isn't an anomaly. This is a deep seeded trend of Hollywood's obsession with portraying the death and enslavement and subordination of black people.

Black sidekicks, black slaves, black victims, black casualties. It is a disgusting pattern. I don't give a damn what happens 3 minutes later. We saw what we saw.

You're ready way too much into this shit. That may be the case in a lot of movies, but this aint one of em. It was a Power Ranger who got killed by an evil Alien only to be brought back a few mins later. This aint no damn black slave white savior movie. Save your black frustration for films that actually deserve it. This aint one of em.
