DL- Tyson Jackson: He is due about 7 million dollars total in 2011, and has been a complete bust. The Chiefs may want to cut their losses right now, but they could reserve judgment for one more seasons. However, they have other players that "deserve" playing time, and he is owed 7 million; money that could be utilized elsewhere.

jackson. smh. dude never getts on the field. damn shame

Man, this will be one of the craziest and most epic and SHORTEST free-agency/cap casualty rushes ever thanks to the lockout.

And since we've already discussed the possible "official free agents" (Nnamdi, etc.) Here's a list of possible cap casualties by division and team according to SB Nation...

NFC SOUTH:

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

RB- Earnest Graham: He is set to make about 3.2 million in 2011 when all is said and done following roster bonuses etc.. That is not what you are looking to pay a player that will be used sparingly. Unless Graham takes a pay cut you can expect Tampa Bay to let him walk. At 31 years old, he is getting a little long in the tooth, but Graham can still be a productive complementary back in the NFL.

C- Jeff Faine: The Buccaneers have ample salary cap room, so any casualties are going to be in order to upgrade the roster; nothing less. This is why Faine fits perfectly into the equation. He is a quality center, but work ethic and salary are two determining factors that make me believe he will be released. Additionally, the Buccaneers have a nice young option in Ted Larsen at that position and can upgrade through free agency as well.

Faine will find a spot as a starting center in the NFL if he is released. The former All-American at Notre Dame is extremely solid up the middle and can provide a lot of running room for backs. Look for a team that needs a stop gap at that position to look at Faine. Obviously, the 49ers might be one of those teams.

CB- Aqib Talib: The only reason that he is on this list is because of a pending assault with a deadly weapon trial in March. Talib was a standout performer for a much improved Tampa Bay defense last seasons, but they may not want the off the field distractions to take away from an otherwise exciting 2011 season. If Talib is released, there will be teams looking to sign him to a 1 year contract, only because he may be in prison next year. However, the gun charges may prevent him from playing this season; the NFL is seriously considering suspending him for the duration of the 2011 year.

Faine makes sense. But Talib and Graham don't. Think the writers just felt like they had to write something for the Bucs

We could do without Osi or Jacobs but neither one of'em are going anywhere...Jacobs will be kept around as an insurance policy for Bradshaw, cuz he's bout to get paid, however Jacobs does need to restructure his contract....Jerry Reese is gonna pay Osi, I don't have any doubt about it....The only people on our squad that are probably not coming back are Barry Cofield, Rocky Bernard and Kiwi if he doesn't take less money coming off his neck injury..

Jamaal Jackson and Juqua Parker? Hmm we could prolly live without those two. Plax wants to come to Philly and the Front Office has shown interest so y'all can kill all that noise. If Haynesworth wanna ball then yea we'll take him too

Lotta denial in this thread about players that are "expendable". Once again -- a case of NFL-Amnesia. How do you think players like Darren Sharper and Ladanian Tomlinson ended up where they are? They both had plenty gas in the tank when their teams chopped them up despite being two of the best players their respective teams have ever had. (And LT was a "possible cap casualty" for his last 3 years in San Diego, so it wasn't just about his age.)

GM's think about the bottom line and they have more scouting info on the young up and coming players than we do. Green Bay knew they'd be okay without Sharper in the long run, and San Diego knew they'd still move the ball without Ladanian. The loyalty days are over.

Agrees with the list. Both Gage and Hope flat out suck, are huge liabilities, and never need to see the field again. I would also add the overrated Bo scaife. Were paying dude all this money to run the wrong routes and drop catches. Thankfully we can replace him with the up and comer Jared cook. And we can also replace Gage and hope with Damian Williams and Myron rolle and do just fine. If not much better

I wouldn't call him a *beast*. I mean, to me a beast would be someone who manages to sign good players that play well and lead the team to victory while the GM still manages to juggle the contracts and keep cap space.

Maintaining cap space on a losing team *should* be easy. Saying Allen is a beast for that is like saying a 2nd grader is a beast for being able to color a coloring book inside the lines and say his ABC's. lol.

Kinda what you supposed to do.

He's only been on our team for a season, not possible to build a team that fast. Not everyone can do what great GM's do.......see Vinny Cerrato. We arent your typical losing team either.....see Redskins net worth. Only reason I brought this up cause you said we needed to get under the cap space when thats clearly not the case.

I hear you, but a losing team is a losing team. The team's net worth does you no good on the field, bruh. You know that. And those net worth numbers are always skewed when the team also has ownership of the stadium they play in. A lot of teams don't own the stadium they play in.

Was reading this article on ESPN.com and dude was trying to say Jimmy Claussen would be the next "NFC South" QB to leave and become great somewhere else. (After Steve Young/Tampa Bay, Brett Favre/ATL) That gave me a much needed laugh.

Yeah, there was no doubt about Favre and Young's potential when they were @ ATL and Tampa.

Young just looked like he was playing 1 on 11 in Tampa. And Favre was a alcoholic who didn't come to practice and when he did come he was hungover. He smartened up and switched his habit from alcohol to pain pills when he got to Green Bay. lol

Claussen was only a high pick because of the school he went to. Go to Notre Dame or USC and have better than a 55% completion percentage and win at least 7 games your last season and you're gonna be at least a 3rd round pick, lol.

Oakland Raiders

WR- Darius Heyward-Bey: Due about 1 million in base salary, but has 23.5 million guaranteed over length of his five year contract. By my estimates, the Raiders would save about 5.5 million dollars if they released him. However, long term the guaranteed money could effect their "dead money" situation if that is part of the new CBA.

DT- Tommy Kelly: Signed a long term extension in 2008, his roster bonus this season will be about 5.5 million dollars. The Oakland Raiders will probably be 18 million over the cap. This means that it is innevitable that Kelly will be released.

CB- Chris Johnson: The corner is due about 4.5 million dollars in 2011. I understand the Raiders cannot afford to lose another corner if Asomugha walks, but they need to get under the cap somehow. The 31 million dollar extension that Stanford Routt signed earlier this year really handicapped the Raiders this season; he is owed over 11 million dollars in 2011.

TOMMY KELLY COMIN OF THE BEST SEASON OF HIS PRO CAREER AND GOT SNUBBED OUT OF A PRO BOWL LAS YEAR...RAIDERS GOT ONE OF THE TOP 5 DEFENSIVE LINES IN FOOTBALL GOIN INTO NEXT YEAR...NOT EVEN AL DAVIS IS THAT CRAZY TO MESS THAT UP...YOU GOTTA BE ON HUBBA ROCK TO THINK THEYD CUT HIM
