lol im updating it as soon as i hear a song thats worthy im cleaning the house so i got the mp3 player on shuffle. Indy 500's subject takes it for me but honest expression might be my favorite on that cd. Thats really a toss up

That's a fair enough reason, I like that we've had a double post now; two people stating Indy 500 as one of their top 10 independent tracks, powerful.

Reality Check always took it for me though, I thought the wordplay and chemistry that they had on that track surpassed the rest of the albums tracks…

u know what i dont know why i said honest expression i meant reality check....thats prob my favorite on the cd but indy 500 is my 2nd favorite. I chose indy 500 because of the subject matter even tho reality check subject is equally important hence why i was contemplating switching it out. I'll flip a coin later to decide...thats literally the only way i could have a set answer lol

Hahaha that's a good breakdown, I need to listen to Indy 500 more if it's two peoples favourites… I always liked Caged Bird as my second and third favourites.

cant agree with that mainly because even tho its a jmt track the show was stolen by r.a

the way im choosing these tracks is by first thinking of the 10 best underground cds and then the best song from that cd....uncommon valor is good but for me when i think jmt i think violent by design thats when vinny paz was at his best stoupe was in his prime and jus allah was jus allah

dope track none the less but its moreso a r.a track than jmt

Haha at least he's on something… I can't say it rates that highly in my list, but he's definitely dope!! Saw him live as well and loved the show… he's gifted for sure. But I listened to The Master and When I be on the Mic was just a lot better than the other tracks, I did buy it a long time ago though and haven't played it in years…. what you think of it?

I Thought it was a Below average but had a couple of gems. i very rarely play it aswell........

Waiting on the world to end (one of the greatest hip hop songs ever, probably my favorite Ra song) >>>> When i be on the mic >>>>>>>>>> the whole album haha

Co Signing this ^^^^^ Uncommon Valor was great because of R.A... Not Vinnie. when i listen to it im not listening for vinnie paz im just waiting for R.A everytime.

& JMT Violent by design is a stone wall classic….. so many great songs and definitely JMT in their prime, ive got a couple of their albums which I never listen to really.

That's a good way of choosing the tracks, I might try it for when I do my selection this evening… Violent By Design, I don't know if you remember, but NagChampa had a classic Essence thread with Violent By Design being the greatest underground release of all time; I don't agree, but it's definitely a great album.

Even so though, that track is one of the best songs on a JMT album :unno

There's already been a thread about RA, check it here: R A The Rugged Man.

Nice list, Lynguistics is on The Essence Playlist of the Month as well as the one you contributed by Glue lol.

Good to see the ALHS tracks as well as Dilla's… High Power is your favourite Lamar track?

I've got a feeling Uncommon Valor may top this list as the greatest Independent Hip Hop track of all time... be a strange one if it is being that RA doesn't really have any other songs that would qualify in this category...

Enemies with Benefits is your favourite CunninLynguists track?! It wouldn't make my top 10, but it's definitely one of the best from Oneirology!

Great list though, the bolded ones would all be potentials for mine... but I'm probably going to take at least another week contemplating mine lol.

Haha great record. Do we class Jive Records as independent though given that they were a major player where commercial hip hop was concerned?! I personally feel as though Jive records was a Major label.
