By nature promoters are shady. They promise the DJ a certain amount and after the DJ plays all night they stiff him and don't pay him.

Don't be a shady promoter. Shady promoters catch beatdowns when they're not expecting it. Their tires get sliced and people key their cars.

I know, I used to DJ and promoters used to rip me off all the time. Thats actually why I stopped DJing. I did it for the art and the love of music and I expected to get paid, promoters don't care about the art nor their reputation. Thats why they're always catching beatdowns.

Im just tryin to understand the bread side...does the manager pay the Dj to play there,cause thats what I think he said..or do I pay him? Or do we pay dude to play there?

Theres this bar that i frequently go to catch a fight or a game..they have live shows on Fri and Sat..but its older people and Tajana and Salsa, sometimes rock...but the manager cool, he down, he told me he wants a younger crowd though...

He told me if i found a DJ I can get down, well i found a DJ, dude told me he charges 20 an hour, i let the manager know i found someone...they gotta talk about money with each other i guess...i dont expect to get any bread yet because it aint poppin like that yet...but when do I start negotiating to get a piece of whatever whenever it jumps off?

I think you almost let the opportunity slip away by allowing your DJ to meet your prospective client. You could've negotiated a lower fee with the DJ and slap your own price on top. As someone said don't be a shady promoter lol

try get an entrance and coat fee thing going too . Depending on the size of crowd normally you can also negotiate a cut on drinks sold , having vodka or shots sale offers listed on the flyers.

Did this with a good pal of mine when I was younger , not only was it a good side income but met some nice people , free drinks and smashed some sexy chicks.

Depends on the deal you cut with venue owner. Most important is to show him/her that you can get people into that venue if you ask for a cut of the entrance,bar sales. But yeah you will have to front the cash to DJ even if it comes out of your pocket ( once you have written agreement from owner).

Im tryin to figure out if me and the dj in this together or the Dj and manager got business or me and the manager got business...he's not MY Dj, buts hes A Dj...peep the scenario..

I pay the Dj, hes down to do the show at the bar for me, (there wont be no cover yet or ever, who knows, so the money comes from the drink specials)..so the manager (if discussed) breaks us off a piece...or does he break me off because I already did business with the DJ...

So manager gave me his number to give to the Dj....but I havent gave it to him yet...thats what im sayin...
