Put the South on the map! Kast classic and cold as hell on this joint

I don't understand why people say Outkast put the South on the map. There were quite a few rap groups from The South before Outkast;

2 Live Crew

DJ Magic Mike

Tag Team

69 Boys

MC Shy D

MC Twist

Geto Boys

I would ask you guys to explain it, but you're probably too young to remember.

Them niggas Irrelevant as Fuck compared to OutKast lol

Those other three made a Big splash in the South and not just a One Hit Wonder .

You just made a fool of yourself

You realize DJ Magic Mike has 20 albums right?

All those groups I mentioned had moderate success. Their videos got played on BET and MTV. They were famous for Miami Bass. That was a sub genre at the time. It was a lot of call and response routines, but not too lyrical.

ATLiens and Aquemini probably my favorite Kast albums, but that ain't saying much cause all of 'em neck and neck. Stankonia was my shit too though. Fuck it, they all my favorite!

People barely looked at the south before Outkast, the references, southern pride oozed out them....

I'm still a huge UGK and Geto Boy fan don't get me wrong, maybe im biased because I grew up with 'Kast...

Do me a favour paatna, listen to the last line on the Aquemini album

OK, "The South got something to say/that's all I got to say"

But what does that have to do with the 2 Live Crew?

Outkast gave the south legitimate credibility, lyrically it was undeniable that they belonged in the upper echelons of Hip Hop.

This answered your question @""5 Grand" ...

Well, I have this on vinyl;
