I always liked both groups very much (group & solo efforts)

But I gotta go with Onyx, because I like the Lox, but im'a Onyx fan

This poll is about skills, dope tracks/abums. So it's not about sales

Otherwise I just could've said " Welcome 2 the Lox beats Onyx poll "

Bad comparison because they came out in different eras. Anyway, I had to go with Onyx. I guess it's my age because I grew up on these dudes. Lox ain't put tracks out like "Last Days".

I think their discography is better and Sticky is nicer than all emcees in The Lox.

Jada shits on everybody in Onyx and its not even close. Last Days is that joint tho. Was listening to it earlier this week.

ONYX 1988–present

The LOX 1994–present

But from 1994 till 2013 is still a pretty long ride

So you actually can compare those two groups

Due to the fact they both still active

Onyx didn't come out in 88. There was a group called Onyx back then but it wasn't the same people.

The group the thread starter is referring to came out in 92. Their first single was "Throw Your Gunz" which had a pretty dope beat. And just to show how pathetic this poll is, there were originally 4 members of Onyx. Not sure of the 4th dudes name but he was on the first album. Anyway, I'm going with The Lox. Onyx was just a gimmick imo.

" The group consists of Sticky Fingaz, Fredro Starr and Sonsee (formerly Suavé and Sonee Seeza). The late Big DS (Marlon Fletcher) was also a member, but left after the group's debut album."

But most people, myself included, see Onyx as a group with three members (just like the Lox)

"The group was formed in 1988 and Onyx released its first 12" single, "Ah, And We Do It Like This", in 1990. The song revealed a jazz influence, unlike their later work. In 1991, Onyx was going to present a demo to Jam Master Jay at Def Jam, but Big DS and Sonee Seeza (then only known as Suavé) were in Connecticut at the time, so Fredro Starr called up his cousin Sticky Fingaz (who lived in Brooklyn). Once Sticky Fingaz joined the group, the group released Throw Ya Gunz in 1992."

But yeah, 1993's Bacdafucup was their debut-album (at Def Jam)

The Lox haven't dropped a group album in 13+ years. They're the outkast of the east coast an extremely overrated group who hardly collab together.Styles and jadas solo albums/tapes are trash

Sheek has been the most consistent and best member for the last 10 years.Like I said lyrically the lox win but onyx has way better music. All we got is us and bacdafucup>>>>>We are the streets and that bad boy album

Onyx was for 13 year olds. They were a gimmick. Older heads thought they were cute but didn't take them seriously. Nobody over 21 took them seriously.

Like GBE. I made a thread comparing them to chief keef and some caught feels

I grew up listening to Slam, Bacdafuckup et al. but at this time I can name about 4 Onyx songs I still fuck with. I like more of the Lox material.

Instead of constantly talking about all shit you don't like, try to talk about shit you like for once

Just starting to notice this, thanks to the other threads.

I believe it was X1. I think TS is young and uses wiki for reference.

Onyx were dancers before they turned to rap. They were dancing in house clubs with multicoloured flat tops and spandex suits. Doug e fresh dissed them in that Aiight video. They were a gimmick, but IMO they have released dope music. Who didn't like "Throw your guns", "Last Days", "The Worst" etc.?

@ Muhannad

X1 was Sticky's younger brother, he got killed in 2007

And yeah, maybe im'a young 33 years old (who sure did used Wiki)

But as far as I know, there's nothing wrong about the information on Onyx

You could be right about that whole " dance/house/flat tops/spandex suits " shit

Never knew anything about that...not that it bothers me, that was then, this is now
