Wiz an Nipsey are slightly above average IMO

To some of us, lyrics aren't the only thing that matters. I listen to all four of the artist you mentioned, but I also listen to Wiz, Nipsey, Currensy, and other rappers who aren't all that great lyrically. They all have attributes that appeal to me. I like Jay Elect, Joell, Raekwon, and AZ for their lyricism....I like Wiz's charisma and Currensy's laid back style...I like Nipsey's delivery and content (he speaks on street shit without glorifying it)....I like Wale and J. Cole for having a little bit of everything. I listen to all kind of hip hop as long as it isn't overtly wack

i can't even entertain that nigga. he only listens to rappers for lyrics. and that's cool. but you don't have to have lyrics in order to make good lyrics. and with that said, wiz still has lyrics. just in a diff. style

3 years ago Wiz was a Pittsburgh nigga trying to sound like he was from New York. That's why underground fans liked him. His main focus was lyrics....but now he relies more on charisma and weed lol.....so underground fans think he fell off

i don't have a problem wit dude i was knowin about him last summer, i just don't look at none of these dudes as THEE top nigga, it is what it is, rappers come and go, i just appreciate good music.

my point is how finnicky net fans can be, they hype up a dude when he's a up and commer, then whenever he generates the success they think he deserves or whatever they start raggin on how wack he is now and how he used to be this or that.

no hate.

Yeah, people don't realize he can do all that "traditional" shit, but he's grown out of it. To me, niggas who purposely use all the big words and grimy beats they can just to sound "lyrical" are just as wack as niggas who make a bunch of watered down cookie cutter shit just to get on the radio.

Nah, cause I relate to him. My favorite emcees are cats who are just like me. So as long as he stays himself and be honest, I'll continue to be a fan. But that's just me though, I know what you mean. Niggas can be fickle.

You can't really put J.Cole in that same class as Wiz. Cole got a major co-sign and a major deal. He had a feature on BP3 (which he murdered, btw). I don't consider homie an internet rapper. I can see wiz going the Joe Budden route and hooking up with a solid independant. But to be honest, that nigga Wiz gets crazy money off of shows. I also disagree that if you mentioned Wiz or J.Cole to a casual Hip Hop fan, they won't know who you're talking about. If you're a fan of hip hop - more than just the trash on the radio - you know Cole and Wiz.

let me get my james earl jones on in Field of Dreams "People Will Come Ray"...

If you market it right, pick the right venues, promote it you'll be fine. Now dont get me wrong u need some sort of buzz, which can be started on the web, or simply started by doing shows. but that's only half the battle, yet they think it's the full war. These cats are all above doing smallers shows.

i'm in a hip hop group... we've done much less lately than in the past but... we made $15k one summer from setting up a full summer of shows. This while most of us were working full time... and had no mainstream radio hit (obviously). people like J Cole and Wale can do way better. I'd venture to guess if wale would have went out by himself and set shit up that same year touring w/o jay z he coulda made more than 300k heading out on his own and setting shit up.

and that's the other thing... all these guys rely on these big managment teams etc to do everything for them. No business savvy themselves, on some well i rap you do everything else.

well 360 might be less on their own tour but setting up the precendent that you can make these people money on the road, gets you the guarnenteed money of a 360 deal... and of course you wouldnt sign a 360 until further down in your career

cool the problem is how many of these guys or there teams have there heads screwed on like you and y ours You can make it work and doing shows is a lot better than dropping your 100th mixtape for free.

Yall are retarted if you think street buzz is any different than internet buzz. Wiz Khalifa is touring America right now. making pretty good show money that he keeps most of the profits from. How many times I got to tell yall those type of artist dont give a damn about record sales which is why they put the majority of their work on mixtapes and build there fanbases. Those people might not buy records, but believe they are going to sell out the lil spots them dudes hit when they tour

but who is coming to a show to hear a nobody they need a radio mainstream hit to get folks to come out to a show if j cole has a show tomorrow the headline would be Jay-z's 1st artist and not J cole with the hit song so and so. I agree with what you are saying but they have to create a street buzz to gt folks to come out and see them some type of club hit or something. saying they can do 150 shows at 1000 a piece is nothing. Wale went on tour with Jay-Z and got 300,000 paid his band 100,000 then subtract paying your management team and others that 150,000 is bout 50,000 at best after taxes. and if they have signed a 360deal they making less than half on their own tour.

WTF are you talking about. Those dudes don't sell out stadiums and they don't need too. Stadium=more expenses not necassarily more profit. So if they do a show at a fair venue like for examp the Revolution in Ft. Lauderdale that can hold 500-1000 people, little promotion is done, expenses is low and they split the profit with the club and their management team equals decent bread while building your fanbase
