Joey badass and pro era still use jazz in their music

I was just listening to that song Statik Selektah had with Badass and Freddie Gibbs. Shit sounds like a straight up throwback.

The intro to to "For Pete's sake"

Pete also used the horns from Chocolate buttermilk on the rampage remix. It tripped me out when I found that out cuz I heard that song plenty of times and never noticed it

Here's how I first heard of Pete Rock & CL Smooth. Its a video that Heavy D released from his second album. Trouble T Roy can be seen dancing in the video. @ 2:36 Heavy D name checks Pete Rock & CL Smooth.

Girls The Love Me - Heavy D & The Boys

The singles...

They Reminisce Over You (T.R.O.Y.)

Straighten It Out

Lots of Lovin'

Straighten it out is a slept on joint. One if my favs from them. Far as the album this entire thing was classic production and TROY is one of my top 10 songs.

Man Straighten It Out was my second favorite on this album

Straighten It Out was my favorite on this album, hands down. It was the sole reason I bought Mecca and the Soul Brother.

I don't even remember why I bought the album in the first place

I liked main ingredient more but TROY got maaaaaddd play every where we went. Good times man good times.

That's funny, I like main ingredient more as well. This album is still a classic though and I love it and still listen to it today.

They are supposed to be recording a new album now, hopefully it happens.

When I started to listen to 80s and 90s albums to step my old school knowledge up this was one that stuck out. I listen to it every now and then ever since

I knew TROY before of course but theres so many other bangers on this joint. My favorite is probably Cant Front On Me that beat is amazing

Man that Little Richard track dope as hell

Stretch & Bobbito loved Mecca & Soul Brother ....... they played the hell outta that joint

Pete chopped up a lot of his samples so much that he didn't have to clear them ..... he submitted them anyway outta respect for the artist
