I can't believe how much people hyped up that HIT BOY track beat from the original reviews when the shit ain't even top five. MURDER TO EXCELLENCE, WHO GONE STOP ME, ILLEST MFS ALIVE,NO CHURCH, AND WHY I LOVE YOU are clearly better tracks

After about 20 listens I give WTT a 7/10. I don't think it's going to get any better then that for me. I had my doubts but it over exceeded my expections. Good album like I've said but not great or a fuckin classic. I'll be bumping the songs I like from time to time.

LOL, and I'm suppose to believe Wayne and Drake are bigger than Hov and Ye cause they are all over the radio? Only Eminem can boost this type of WORLDWIDE domination. But could Eminem drop a callabo album with no video or barely any promo and it do this well? "Bad Meets Evil" will go Gold but that's not great for Eminem standards. But I can't hate on that, it still did pretty well since Royce is not a mainstream artist at all. Jay and Ye were able to go Gold in the 1st week, with no video, minimal promotion and the album is so polarizing it's got everyone talking. The marketing strategy for this LP was brilliant.

I laugh at all the rappers having an opinion on the LP. It's funny cause when most other albums drop, half of these emcees are quiet as mouses but Jay and Ye drop, everyone writing novels on why they ain't feelin it or why they didn't like "Otis or H.A.M.". Jay and Ye proved their point, everyone is WATCHING THE THRONE aka WATCHING THEM. They got all these rappers shook with how they just smashed the game, no leak and still getting the #1 Platinum album. They will cake even more off tour. As for the album, after 2 days straight of bumping it, I will have to say for the 1st time in years I agree with the Source. I give it about 4 MICS:

MBDTF - 4.5 MICS

WTT - 4 MICS

BP3 - 3.5 MICS

My 1st listen was about 4.5 MICS but I've had time to let it ride a little, there are definitely some weak spots and I understand some Hip Hop purist being upset with the lack of "Raw/Street" hip hop sounds missing from the album. But Jay already said he had evolved and we've seen Ye' change it up on every album. "WTT" sounds like the last film of a great trilogy, 2 solo records and 1 collabo album. Jay and Ye are laughing at all their haters wtih this one. This line from "H.A.M." takes on a whole new meaning:

"Niggas Watch The Throne Drop, and they kill themselves"

They just took everyone's buzz for the rest of the year. Good luck to Wayne, Drake, NaS and Cole, all of their albums and sales will be compared to "WTT".

If it was just an Em album it would of done more then what WTT did. Your right though being that he did a collabo album with Royce who's not a big mainstream artist it did alright. I bet if he did a collabo album with Dre instead it would of done huge numbers. Good look though for Jay and Ye! The album is good and they will have the 2nd biggest 1st week sales of this year, I believe? Good look for hip hop though and that's all that matters.

I swear to God

Yea 13 out of 16 is 81.2% which is an A - which = 5 MICS

Thriller is a classic and baby be mine sucks to me

Word I HATE that song

And it was supposed to be the 1st single thankfully they scrapped that idea
Word??

That would be a B- where I went to school... (maybe even a C) which is about where I'd put this album. Better than average... a bit.

Is this a good look for hiphop as a whole tho ... To me the fact that one album can "take everyones shine" speaks more to how fickle hiphop fans can be more than it places hov and ye greatest in context...because honestly while this album is a really good piece of work especially considering the circumatances .... Its not really close to the greatest thing either artist has put out individually.... But whatever i can walk and chew gum at the same time ... So im still looking foward to these other albums to drop

Oh I agree, this is far from 5 MICS and if you are going name your album "What The Throne" and then proclaim you are basically KINGS OF HIP HOP, the least you can do is drop a Classic. But there is no way this is a bad album, looking at the rest of Hip Hop it clearly shines through. Now I don't know if that's a good thing or that it just says Hip Hop is so weak right now that Jay and Ye could kinda mail it in and still outshine everyone. I don't know, take your pick. Also my point about Wayne, Drake, Cole and NaS isn't that WTT ended their buzz, it's they all will be compared to it. Remember Jay and Ye are touring the rest of the year right in time for the holidays. I could see this album staying and doing well on the charts. When I was listening to it I also thought it had some singles that I think would bubble. "Niggas in Paris" beat bumps so hard, that could do well on radio. The Beyonce track cause she's on could do some damage on the charts. Overall they made a great album that can stay in public mind for awhile. I know one thing, the same way Jay cleaned up at the Grammy's the last 2 years. Ye is about to really clean up at the Grammy's. I could see KanYe walking away with like 5 or 6 grammy's come February.

I wasn't bein technical cuz I dont go to college thats my rating system
No diss, I thought it was a pretty good analogy. You just lost me with the grade/rating. 13 out of 16 tracks MUSICALLY is pretty much classic-status, but personally I just didn't find 13 tracks to be great. 5-6 pretty good tracks, IMO - but that's all it takes nowadays to be the best album out. To say a classic though... I just don't see how this would compare at all to, say, Blueprint, Black Album, College Dropout, Late Registration, etc. Not sound-wise, because they're trying to push the envelope. Just content and execution.
