if this is truely gonna be a conscious album then guess what

1)Jay-z is a weak sheep. It took doin a collab album with another rapper for him to wana speak about some real shit

2)i hope that these two industry leaders can sway the game to where the industry now is expectin more conscious shit. the same way the game swayed a couple years ago and washed the trapper rapper down and made everyone start talkin about finer living & the illuminati

lol Commons early work consisted of talking about getting pussy and dissing bitches, even Blackstar talked about bitches. Niggas definition of conscious is real loose, alot of these so call conscious rappers rap about the same shit as regular niggas.

Co-signable.

For me concious is a rapper that spits on some current affairs...........And is truthful in the raps even if it's about himself. I wouldn't call Game concious but The Kill and Lost are concious tracks IMO.

i dont even consider talib kweli a consious rapper cuz like dude said, he raps about bitches n shit too. nas bein consious sounds dumb to me when distant relatives is the only "consious" album he made. niggas like dead prez who wanna be blacker than malcom x covered in the venom symbiote, thats a consious rapper to me.

I agree actually, it ain't black and white. But that's basically the overall perception of those rappers, and some of their albums. That they're "conscious"... even though they touched on things not so different to what most other rappers were doing at the time.

If it ain't the whole album then a lot of dudes are conscious, including Jay and even Eminem

Thats what usmarine was saying though, it aint the whole album but for some reason those niggas I listed get labelled, as well as their albums as conscious. If Jay made an album that is widely considered conscious by those "standards" and "examples" I listed, would it be his first?

I dont see how anyone could infer its gonna be a conscious album....The quote literally said there's ONE track about Black history.....

Oh and that one HAM song in case nobody heard it....

To tell you the truth, i don't really fuck with that conscious label shit.... and yeah its a reach but who knows? Might surprise us...

*kanye shrug

I'm looking forward to this album; not sure how the whole conscious thing is going to work out but you never know. Kanye's a great album maker and Jay-Z's a great rapper so this could be a huge record but at the same time it might not live up to expectations.

I'm gonna stay optimistic though; I didn't mind H.A.M. but I do think there's loads of room for improvement considering what they've both done over their careers.

Yall niggas ain't shit. Talib vouches for Kanye and Jay's authenticity and depth, and yall throw a bitchfit. Probably the same niggas that broke out the picket signs when you heard HAM.

You mean would it be the first album ppl conceived as conscious, yeah I think you're right. But I agree it's an illogical perception. Every rapper at some point has conscious songs or lyrics. And every "conscious" rapper has rapped about non-conscious stuff. I mean what was so "conscious" about "As I Enter" for instance?

No doubt... all high caliber rappers got many conscious songs, some just don't fit that stereotype of "conscious" backpacker....
anyways still looking forward to the album...

Boy how time flies when you are making empty promises to your gullible fanbase. Ok i been hearing about this WTT shit since good fridays. This is supposed to be a glitter studded affair with the gay fish and the camel delivering the first "classic" album of 2011. Well we 3 months deep in this motherfucker and I aint heard nobody giving a damn about this project. That first single with q tip went by like wind. Ham gets no kind of airplay. I heard it once on the battle of the beats and it lost against that treal lee fuck everybody song. Jay Z and Kanye better scrap this project because they are setting themselves up for failure. none of the shit they been on since SLU been decent. they both dropped forgettable verses on MBDTF. Ham was hot garbage. i cant recite half a bar of that q tip track if a million dollars was up for grabs. Its march now. where is the promo and press about this album. when is the tour. where are the videos? these niggas aint serious about bringing together a mind blowing hip hop album. they just pulling PR stunts to stay relevant. especially jay z. he need to get off kanye dick and get back in the studio on his own accord. it would be very dope to have a NEW Jay Z album out in may, june this year. its been 2 years since BP3. time for larry holmes to get back in the ring and show hip hop he still got it. Its time for a Vol 4 Jay Z not BP4. It would be genius of Jay Z to drop a Vol 4 before wayne drops C4. i thought Jay Z learned by now joint albums with chitown niggas=trouble.
