The biggest problem I see with them not doing a lot of promo is that Hip Hop has been running off 1st week sales ever since 50 Cent made sales THE deciding factor in music. A lot of these new age fans will say it's bad just because it won't do C3 numbers on the first week and then they won't cop it until they hear DJs playing it on the radio.

I can see this it is a hell of a thing to see that shit how easily sheeple are guided by DJ's so they can fit in. Makes me feel old because I can remember When the sales #'s were the same or smaller in HipHop and Kats copped based on what they liked because not that much shit got play on the radio...

I can remember when you would just go to the store on Friday and Tuesday and cop everything you could afford regardless of what region or how much it sold according to Billboard. CDs and the phasing out of vinyl really changed things. Vinyl and cassettes were so cheap you could afford to pay different amounts for different formats. Most of the full lengths I have on vinyl only cost $5 and some of em were $2.

And yeah I blame 100% of what happened to Hip Hop on the DJs. They were the gate keepers and they all sold out more than any rapper.

The industry have all taken notice oh what Jay-Z and Kanye have done... They may have possibly found a way of releasing music without albums leaking 2-3 weeks before it's release date... You can bet more and more albums will be released this way until the day comes when everything will be released digitally only which will completely stop leaks all together

Music is moving more and more into the digital age... CD will be gone in a few years... and you guys are gonna call me crazy for saying this but Music will be eventually only released digitally and on vinyl... yes vinyl... You will also see alot more free albums coming from people especially new artist, mixtapes will fade more and more and actually full blown albums will be coming out free... i.e. Frank Ocean's Nostalgia Ultra and The Weeknd's House of Balloons

Also look for some major copyright problems coming because of what i stated above... Alot of samples that are used on songs that are put on mixtapes and free cd's are gone un-prosecuted by owners of that material because those artist are seen to not be making profits off of it... But When when this becomes more and more prominent that shit is gonna come to a hault...
