See this is a legitimate gripe.

I think it was because he was shot badly by Chewie. That's why before he engaged with Finn they showed the blood spill into the snow. I'm assuming that's what allowed Finn to hang with him. As far as not force pushing him or something during battle is anyone's guess, but the same can be asked of many other battles in the franchise.

I think Ray was able to hang because she already knew how to use a weapon (as shown early in the movie when she used her staff) and they seemed to be implying that the force is stronger with her than with Kylo. Since it appears that she's Luke's daughter I wouldn't be surprised if she's stronger with the force than even he & will be unfuckwitable once she's properly trained.

Even with kylo injured there's no way Finn should have lasted that long. His fight with kylo ren was longer than anikans fight with Dooku in episode 2. I think Finn is force sensitive.

Btw the 3D conversion for the Batman v Superman trailer was fucking atrocious. Felt like someone took a light saber out of my eye when the Civil War trailer came on afterwards. I did find that I liked the trailer a lot more in the theater though.

I wanted to see Star Wars in regular IMAX but my theater only screened the IMAX in 3D for tonight. My desire to see it in IMAX was greater than my unwillingness to watch 3D so I said fuck it. The 3D wound up being bearable and wasn't overdone at all if anyone is faced with the same dilemma and wondering.

I hope so because he & Kylo were easily the best characters despite it being abundantly clear that Rey is the one being given the Star Wars torch.

But there's 2 possible explanations:

Kylo being the son of Leia, who is the sibling w/ lesser force sensitivity, might not have full access to the force for any number of reasons. He did say that his longing for his father was holding him back and preventing him from fully embracing the dark side. Now that he's killed him he'll likely comeback wrecking shop in the next movie after further training from Snoke with out any light side interference.

The other explanation being that there is no explanation and we just have to accept a dope ass saber battle for what it is. A dope ass saber battle with an injured Kylo Ren & anger/adrenaline fueled Finn.

I'm going to go with the former since they dropped hints throughout the movie that Kylo Ren was slacking as far as his force capabilities are concerned.

There's only 18 IMAX theaters in the world that are showing this film in 2d.

Well that explains why I didn't find it. Now I'm glad I didn't hold out lol.

i thought the movie was pretty damn good

Finn was a strong main character, he knew it was morally wrong on HIS FIRST DEPLOYMENT to murder innocent people.

Also, about his name and backstory, you think he's the only one like that? All storm troopers have letters and numbers in their name, and they more than likely were taken as children. They're brainwashed to be troopers.

He was a badass though..

He led The Resistance to the Star Killer. He forced Capt Phasma to shut down the shields. He saved Ray. He held his own against Ren. Now, if Finn isn't a Jedi, we don't know this YET, then he did really well against Ren, weakened or not.

Ray is going to be the strongest Jedi to date, even more so than Luke and I don't think she's his daughter.

She's possibly Obi Wan's granddaughter.

Same Jedi mind tricks on the storm troopers.

Luke senses it. (or just senses her power)

Glad they didn't kill Kylo off. I honestly thought they would. I though Han was going to do it for a minute, his death was predictable but I was hoping it wasn't the case.

It was all foreshadowed though w the Falcon and Chewie liking her.

Kylo was the lead villain, I read somewhere he wasn't, I felt he was. Really Snook is, but he didn't do shit. Wish they didn't remove Kylos mask as often, though. Should've only been done when he was with Han on the walk way.

The Force Awakens... R2-D2. Bruh always comes in to save the day, and in this case, respond to Rays force and find Luke.

Someone said they left Finn to get buried? Nah. You can heart the heart beat monitor in the background. He's good. He's signed up for more movies.

Carrie Fisher was meh. Short parts but meh.

Capt Phasma was weak. How the fuck is she a Captain.

Solid movie. 8/10

I assumed she was Luke's daughter because of the whole bit about the light saber being passed down from Luke's father to him & now it's destined to be Rey's. On some family heirloom type shit. In which case Rey would also have a rightful claim to it since Vader would be her grandfather as well (and additional claim with Luke being her dad).

Also Rey & Ren's 1st face to face gave the vibe that they already knew one another despite them never fully acknowledging it. That would make the utmost sense if they're cousins. It's understandable that she would know of him but not in reverse without them knowing each other from youth.

Also I didn't mind the predictability of Solo's death. It was only predictable in the moment of him walking across the bridge. Going into the film everyone assumed it would be Chewy or Finn (turns out the scene of Rey in the snow crying was Finn though. He just didn't die). Solo's death was only thought of as a long shot.

Also, Ren knew if they took too long to find her then she would quickly develop her force capabilies & be more than they could handle. I don't see that being his immediate deduction of the situation from her being kin to Obi Wan. But it makes all the sense in the world if she's the direct blood of the man that was the last remaining Jedi, 32 yrs prior. Midichlorians off the charts lol

Movie made $50 million at the Thursday night showings alone.

Also there were no knights of Ren in the movie save for the flashback of Ren breaking away from Luke's tutorage. What's good with them?

Count how many Star Wars puns gets thrown into the weather report

10?

Also I need to abandon the thread till the 27th; this talk of racism/feminism got me wanting to click on these damn spoilers mayne!

I feel that it's way too damn predictable w her being Luke's daughter.

They never got to it, just hinted to her being Luke's. It's more likely, though. I was getting an Obi vibe w that whole stormtrooper thing, I know all Jedi's possess it, just don't remember seeing Luke do it. Only Qui-Gon and Obi.

Preferably, I'd rather her be no ones blood. Just a new generation on her own.

But the whole lightsaber calling to her thing and her vision hints heavily to Luke.
