Not that I believe in that "label buying records" bullshit... but to play devil's advocate... selling 200k is better than selling 100k, or even 150k. Just seeing that 2 is big for hip hop these days. It would be sensible to wanna see that number upped to 200, so people would the album's commercial significance seriously, and in turn go out and buy the album. But in those cases, the album would have to suck, and the artist would have to have no credibility. Cole is not one of those cases. But hey, I'm not an expert, just giving my two cents.

That buying back albums is still making no sense at all. If you ever sold anything in your life for profit, you would understand that buying back your product would not benifit u at all. Ok, ima play along with this logic....lets say cole sells 200 k, but then weeks later someone exposes j.cole and his team for buying back all those albums. Now, for yahll who are saying that buying back albums can help your image look better, lets say he gets caught for buying back albums now his public image is millivanilli status. Why would a major label put the integrity of there label in a stupid position like that just to make cole look good? To risky to do something like that, all parties envolved would take a career ending L. All im saying is that logic sounds stupid, and it equates to no money. The music business is a BUSINESS, if theres no money to be made in the business, they would have just dropped cole a long time ago. Like i said, albums are 10 bucks, cole has loyal fans, some im sure they had enuff to buy 1 album.

Nah, the logic behind record labels buying their own records is: spend some cash buying records to inflate your sales and make you jump positions on the charts, then in subsequent weeks the bandwagon hoppers, coons, frauds and followers will actually purchase the album.

Alot of cole demographic is college based and high school kids....theres 10 million plus college kids and more than 10 million high school students in the united states alone, why is it so impossible to you that selling 200 k out the gate equates to the label brought back half the albums?
