Must be. Cause I know it isn't the fact that they sometimes sing and make music that the public majority likes. Not with Cole grabbing Trey Songz for his hook and almost every song on his album having a part that's harmonized.

Nah a lot of people dont have a problem with the harmonizing bit cause he been doin that shit since the warm up.. which is when he got a lot of his fans in the first place

Selling out in what sense?

Sellling out in changing their character (Nicki), and going after a pop sound (Wiz and Drake) when they clearly didn't need to, especially Drake. If you can't fucking tell the difference between Nicki's, Drake, and Wiz early shit and their debut's then ya'll are deaf, they clear made "safe" albums.

Atleast Sideline Story is in line with FNL and Warm Up, no Rihanna sounding beats and Black Eyed Peas pop sounding records.

I heard a song with Cole and Trey songs. Shit sounded popish to me. WTF is you talking about? Especially considering how you admit that Cole wants to appeal to the masses and not just be some underground rapper. You realize that appeal to the masses means being popular...in other words...pop...

Getwitcha

No, you SAW the title "Cole ft. Trey Songz" and embedded in your head: POP

The fact a guy uses a pop artist doesnt automatically make it 'pop'...(i.e. Talib Kweli ft Justin Timberlke (The Nature) is a DEEP song)

its 90% the beat that determines if it's pop

'Can't get enough' is NOT a pop record. smh

Lupe Fiasco ft. Trey Songz "Out of my Head' = Pop

You should be ashamed if u dont know the difference.

LOL what's the last single Drake released that catered to pop radio? Find Your Love? And what before that... Best I Ever Had? Just seems like you're trying to narrow the gap between those 3's success and J. Cole's.... whatever it is he has by generating excuse after excuse.

"Work Out" is already listed under Cool New Music for Pop... I wonder what you're gonna say when his label actually sends it out to Pop radio.

first off the song has limited qualities of a pop song

lets look at the verses: No autotune he flowing real fast no slow motion watered down lines.

the chorus: Trey isnt even singing slow again no autotune and trey aint even hitting any high notes or croaning like a drake/young money chorus.

while it might be a single its not a pop top 40 hip pop single

dont getwitcha logic

that shit still faster than most pop top 40 watered down shit though. That line is quicker than any find your love verse from drake. Plus i have been critical of coles work, delays, and admitted when he was wrong on this site.

That line isn't watered down or slow-motion. "Head" was the only word to be drawn out.
